Inspiring stories and good deeds by kind people
-
There are more good deeds and inspiring actions taken by our fellow humans and many of them seem to go by unnoticed. Yet we hear about so many sad and horrific things on an every day basis, and we call it the NEWS. Perhaps if more of the GOOD NEWS stories and inspiring actions, of everyday people, were more prominent... It would inspire more and more people to feel less trapped in a sad and angry world...and instead notice all of the goodness and the loving actions, made on a daily basis. Why are the good deeds not given equal billing? There was a story recently, about the London Marathon, in which several Good Samaritans helped a fellow runner make it to the finish line... Sacrificing their own time in the race, to do a good deed. It made me cry and gave me hope for the future. http://metro.co.uk/2017/04/23/hero-gives-up-own-race-time-to-help-struggling-runner-get-across-the-finish-line-6592249/

In a study conducted by Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky, psychology professor at University of California, Riverside, students were assigned to do five random acts of kindness per week for a period of six weeks. At the end of the study, the students' levels of happiness had increased by 41.66 percent. Being kind had a profoundly positive effect on happiness https://www.inc.com/peter-economy/25-quotes-about-kindness-that-will-inspire-you-to-make-a-difference-and-be-happy.html

Did you hear about the first grade teacher in Charleston who gave a bicycle to every student in her school? Most of the students were poor and the teacher couldn't believe that some of them had never ridden a bicycle. She raised $80,000 on GoFundMe and bought all 650 students at her school a brand new bicycle and helmet. Now she's working on raising money for summer camps and swimming lessons.

Did that cause bullying ? Seems like it would

I saw this on the news ... Sometimes some things are possible to do when you get older ... Even when you have your doubts about them or are called crazy for wanting to do them.

Did that cause bullying ? Seems like it would The negative group did very minor things, like not holding an elevator when someone was approaching. It was nothing evil. But the end result was the same. The negative group was more stressed while the positive group felt better.

Nine miscarriages. I can't even imagine. I'm pretty sure I would have stopped trying long before.

Speaking of babies, in Pune, India, Dr. Ganesh Rakh delivers baby girls for free. Since families celebrate whenever boys are born, he throws a party at the hospital whenever girls are born. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-35379231

As of January, it is now illegal to slaughter dogs in South Korea. Seoul's largest dog meat market was shut down in December when the government paid vendors to close their cages and tear down their slaughterhouses. Animal rights groups also convinced the market to stop slaughtering rabbits, chickens and ducks. As of April, Taiwan is now the first country in East Asia to ban dog and cat meat. Their new Animal Protection Act also raises fines for animal abuse, which can include prison time.

Some great good and kind stories Hailey! Had a friend with many miscarriages, thankfully she was able to finally get pregnant... Thinking boaters could add these skimmers to their boats and bring the haul in and then have a place that can somehow recycle, perhaps into a building material of some sort. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/heres-how-to-keep-our-oceans-trash-free_us_59247c5fe4b0b28a33f63008?section=us_good-news Trying to think of a way to skim space junk...may write to Elon Musk...

People do far more good in the world than bad, but it's harder to find the good stories on the news. Bad news gets better ratings, unfortunately.
