The Patriot Act started with the Bush Administration. The Presidency only signs a bill into law. The Congress and the Senate of the Legislative Branch make the Laws. We as a nation are suppose to have a peaceful way of addressing our concerns for our leaders. Perhaps during this election the appearance of a non protesting wayt to possiblly bring change to restore the Bill of Rights which then make the Patriot act and such UnConstitutional or try to bring a Constition to the table to Repeal the Patriot act. or something. love doris

Well How many of the republicans of done simular wrongs. That is not all that I would need to Know about a Candidate. I would also have to know what that particular leader has actually done in the way of getting things accomplished in office. What alterntaive solutions do the others who are critical of the situations presented before this president come up with. All they have thrown out are mud slings not alternatives. Lets here the Alternative to what Obama put in to play here A Viable alternative. What transpired between him and Mayer have nothing to do with him signing that bill. love doris

It's not about both sides doing right or wrong...it's about hypocricy. You seem to forget that this is basically fallout from the Rush Limbaugh (who's only the right's 'defacto leader' if you're looking at it from the left - no one on the right cares about the man) and Sandra Fluke incident...in which the right immediate condemned the comments as 'out of line'...but then the left joint the frey and as it turns out, were never offended by this incident - and in fact were only so glad to use it...all while one of the major media faces from the left were making equally or even more so inflammatory comments about women AND children (including those with Downs Syndrome) who are associated with the right...suddenly it was 'Rush was vicious while Bill Maher is just a comedian having a little fun (wink wink)'...so it's about hypocrisy, not whether one side or the other makes mistakes....
