Agreed. Sometimes you need to because the conversation is so convoluted that you need to keep it all in a reply so folks can follow it, but often people are just too lazy to edit it down... :

I usually just cut whatever doesn't apply to my reply. For example, I cut out Jenny's first post on editing, and then my reply to her, so that just your question and my answer are showing.

There's some HTML code you can use, as well, but it's easier to just use the buttons the PM.com site already offers.
