RIP...for all that have passed

Bruce M.:
2016 has just been an unending parade of horror and grief. But seriously, if you've never seen "Singin' in the Rain," the movie that made Debbie Reynolds a star, get your hands on it and watch it now. It's glorious, one of those movies that you almost can't watch without ending up in a good mood. Notably, Reynolds had never danced before doing it, but managed to hold her own with two of the greats, Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor. Hail and farewell.
Singin' In the Rain is my favorite movie. Always has been, always will be. Now, almost everyone involved is gone, except Stanley Donen, and he's in his 90s.

Henry From Wings too this year..

The Beatle family lost quite a few in 2016: David Bowie ("Fame" with John) George Martin Tony Barrow Henry McCullough Al Brodax (produced Beatles cartoons) Sam Leach Funny, I don't think any "Beatle people" died in 2014, but we lost 5 in 2013 and 4 in 2015.
-
And we just lost another one - Allan Williams at age 86. http://www.beatlesstory.com/news/2016/12/30/allan-williams-first-beatles-manager-passes-away

I often don't know where to post certain things, and I did post a link in Yesterday before seeing this. Perhaps it will be moved. Anyroad, Allan was a true character! I always found him quite entertaining. (Also enjoyed Stevie Riks impersonation of Allan: "Where's my commission?") http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4077232/The-Man-Gave-Beatles-Away-Alan-Williams-Fab-Four-s-manager-died-aged-86.html http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/beatles-first-manager-original-jacaranda-12388312

At the risk of going off-topic, check out "La La Land." I'll say more in a more appropriate thread.

Thanks jl4761 and Paulfan11. I am doing something I haven't done before--buying his only child a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant. I live too far away to take food over or go to the funeral. I doubt if there will be many people there. He sounded very happy when I said I was sending it. The gift certificate idea came after I talked to an honest florist. I fully intended to send flowers, but she said the flowers die right after they are taken to the grave site this time of year. So, I thought better of it. When Daddy died five years ago, the flower arrangements were comforting at the funeral home. But, I think treating them to a meal will be comforting, as well.

That was a good idea. I have sent food baskets before. My condolences to you.

Not the most famous celebrity but surely the oldest to pass this year, Tyrus Wong was 106. He inspired Bambi. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/tyrus-wong-dead-bambi-106-1201950604/

Isn't life strange A turn of the page Can read like before Can we ask for more Each day passes by How hard man will try The sea will not wait You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry Wish I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wish I could be in your eyes Looking back there your were and here we are Isn't love strange A word we arrange With no thought or care Maker of despair Each breath that we breathe With love we must weave To make us as one You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry Wish I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wish I could be in your eyes Looking back there you were, and here we are Isn't life starnge A turn of the page A book without light Unless with love we write To throw it away To lose just a day The quicksand of time You know it makes me wqnt to cry cry, cry Wish I could be in your heart To be one with your love Wish I could be in your eyes Looking back there you were and here we are "And, It Makes Me Want To Cry" Are My Feelings Toward Many Things In 2016...
