You and Hailey McComet jet setting all over, and I harbor qualms about just going to the beach
I can't speak for her, but...we wish.

Yeah, I wish too... Those photos of Morocco sure looked nice.... Susy, the more you do things like going to the beach, the easier it gets... Keep trying, bring a friend-sister-cousin, if it helps... Just keep on keeping on. Jet setting? No Susy...more like working an incredibly difficult, miserable job 47 weeks and saving money every single week, to pay for 5 weeks vacation! I Air B n B it, and stay with friends and hang with locals who help me find fun things to do! I have had good travel benefits over the years tho. Just read about those people who are racking up frequent flier miles by going everywhere!! Sounds fun! There are incredible hotel and travel deals that anyone can get, if you spend some time on travel websites and get email notifications... I've put together great deals for friends, and for myself. Belong to all possible travel clubs and frequent flier clubs, auto rental companies, triple A has many many great deals/discounts most places...etc. you have to ask for the deals when you make reservations.

All of that and, if you can live in China, go for it. Everything is so much cheaper. A flight from Hong Kong to Paris is almost half of Paris to Hong Kong, and a lot less than anywhere in the US to Paris. It's also a lot easier and cheaper to get to the rest of East Asia. I can fly to Tokyo in 4 1/2 hours for under $150.

Heard a story about a young man who sold lemonade to raise money to help pay for his own adoption. It brought tears to my eyes. He has raised $14,000 so far....many thumbs up!!!

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/04/26/us/lemonade-stand-adoption-missouri-boy/ A very sad story
yet there's lots of hope and happiness for this young guy in the future.
he is truly one of the lucky ones... There are so many children of the world who are vulnerable, hungry, or needing a stable family unit. Local churches are a really good place to find a child and make a difference!

"he is truly one of the lucky ones..." This is one of the thoughts that brought tears to my eyes. For every lucky one, there are 99 who aren't as fortunate.

You really don't need to know Chinese to visit. You'll pay a lot less for everything if you can haggle in Chinese, but how well anyone understands you depends entirely on which dialect you're using. If I go to Macau, everyone understands me beautifully. In Fuzhou, I might as well be speaking Swahili. English is good enough for Hong Kong. Most people don't speak it, but most signs are in Chinese and English and most streets have English names as well as Chinese.

Hong Kong is essentially a giant shopping mall. Just stay away from bargain electronics.
