Are you healthier now than 10 years ago?

New year resolutions and all that got me thinking - Am I in better health now or in better health in 2004? In 2004 - I smoked about 15-20 a day. I drank beer, like every day. Went to the gym. But only once. Ate lots of micro-chips and micro-beef burgers Stressed about work In 2013 - Don't smoke Drink only at weekends Walk everywhere Still eat rubbish but take care more Don't give a c**p about work So why do I feel the 2004-me would beat the now-me in any category (mental or physical) and that the 2004-me would laugh at the 2013-me? In addition, the 2013-me has had a few vitamin C but still feels feeble to the decade earlier. I would be more worried if my 2013 was compared to 1994. So, is your 2013 healthier than your 2004?

in 2004 I completed My Chemo and Began and completed My raditation treatments for my Breast cancer. Side efects included a cancer realted stroke and a weekend heart but I am still here. love doris

Yes - in 2004 and up to as recent as 2 years ago, I ranged from 250 to 270 lbs...I started losing weight years ago more so due to high blood pressure issues (vs actually trying to lose weight just 'to be in shape') and I've been at my current weight of 185 for over a year...I was almost out growing size 40 pants and now wear size 33 (at least in jeans)

Glad to hear you beat that...I've known several women who suffered from breast cancer, two of them are survivors while one lost this battle (all were work peers)

I am for sure. Back in 2004 my thyroid condition was still undiagnosed. I spent years being told there was nothing wrong with me until almost 4 years ago I finally found a doctor that understood that something was indeed wrong with me and diagnosed me with my thyroid issue. Though I still have some issues, I am in better health than in 2004. As I've mentioned here before, I'm having surgery in three weeks which will also hopefully help me to get even healthier for this new year.

Congrats at being almost 10 years cancer free Doris!
Sorry about the other issues it brought on as a result but as you said, you are still here and fighting!

yea I hope so working on getting my strength back for a nother test. Then I will see how that goes. love doris
