I have been hearing this talk show host talking about turmeric. Anyone take this? He claims he & his wife are both taking it & feel wonderful & has even given it to has aging dog. The dog couldn't jump up in the truck anymore & now he can. It has helped the people too. Sounds too good to be true. http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/20-health-benefits-of-turmeric.html
I have been taking this for 3 months now & my knees feel a LOT better!
Were you able to find this at a local store, or did you order it? I get achy joints, back and knees sometimes (all those years spent as a gymnast, did a number on my body!) I may have to try this stuff.
Buy one get one free at Walgreens. I believe it is also a spice. But this is in pill form. 450 -500 mg. It says "helps support joint function, mobility & comfort. Natural antioxidant support. Helps maintain heart & cardiovascular system health." Google it...I think it even said it was good for more things. And really... I was having problems with my knees on our walks with Willy. I could barely make it around the entire park. Now I don't even have to sit down at every or any of the benches at the park! And I actually took him there twice today.
Thanks Oobu! I'll have to stop at Walgreens on my way to work in the morning to pick some up to give it a try. Glad it is working for you and I bet Willy loved the two trips to the park!

Keep doing it if it's helping! I take occasionally for anti-inflammation. Ginger has similar benefits.

I've looked up the supplement online and there are so many! Some with Bioperine. Oobu, do the ones you take have that in them as well?

Nope. The ones that I have are by Finest Nutrition & it says to take one a day. This bottle is 450 mg & I just bought another & it is 500 mg.

Curcumin in Tumeric seems to be the wonder... Here is The Mayo Clinic's weigh in... "Curcumin, a substance found in the spice turmeric, has long been used in Asian medicine to treat a variety of maladies. Now some research suggests that curcumin may help prevent or treat cancer." "Curcumin is thought to have antioxidant properties, which means it may decrease swelling and inflammation. It's being explored as a cancer treatment in part because inflammation appears to play a role in cancer." http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/cancer/expert-answers/curcumin/FAQ-20057858
Yes...that is what I read too. I don't know what else to credit for my ability to walk so much now. Before I was cheating & not even going the entire distance. Now I do that & more.
Yep...The curcumin in the turmeric reduces inflammation and swelling and therefore reduces the pain. Have heard that it is not easily absorbed although.

I picked some up this morning, so we will see in a month or so if it's made a difference for me!

Hopefully, it works even faster for you, paulfan11! Have a feeling that it will!

Don't eat leftovers that are a week old, even if you paid $60 a person for them.

Hardly anyone gets enough fiber in their daily diet. I've been using fiber supplements for over 20 years. Some outfits like Shaklee have quality products, but the price is way above affordability for most. I've slimmed down the choices to 2 (soluble fiber & un-soluble fiber). These can easily be found at places like Vitamin Shoppe. Just be forewarned, it's easy to overdue the consumption - I won't explain, I'll leave that to your imagination btw - I use powders, no capsules
-
"I've slimmed down" Was this a Freudian slip?

Late night mostly - with a dash o' freud

^ Cinnamon is another good antioxidant and inflammation and swelling reducer etc. that they had featured in a news report yesterday. They recommend limiting usage to a couple of tablespoons, but it sounds to be very beneficial when used and used properly.

My health tips. Exercise every day; that means breaking a sweat. I was a former competitive runner since I was 13. I weight train 4-5 times a week & do 6 days of cardio at least 40 minutes running, hard cycling or elliptical. At 53 I look & feel awesome in my hard body & six pack. Eat well & avoid eating crap. Second tip; start when you're a teenager because when you're older it's an uphill battle w/ plenty of frustration & often people give up. Aging sucks

Haven't noticed a difference yet, but I've only been taking it for 6 days, so need to give it a bit more time.

It took me a little over a month to notice a difference.
