Warsaw, Poland - National Stadium - June 22, 2013 - ARCHIVE
-
What a weekend! Just came back from Poland. Here´s few things I´ve experienced. - weather was terrible. So hot....and the hotel was hot. Nothing is cold in Poland....not even beer. - me and my girlfriend MET RUSTY!!!! We were walking on Friday to around the city and suddenly I just though: that man looks familiar...wait a minute..its Rusty He walked towards us with a umbrella and I stopped him and said hello and we shake hands. Then I introtuced my girlfriend to him and said we are coming to see the show and we are from Finland. He told us to enjoy the show and the meeting was suddenly over. I flowed few minutes and then we go on... nice little suprise. - Stadium was a little disapointment cause the roof was on. Also VO2 section was bad place to see the show. Here´s the reason. - We saw Paul and his staff when they arrived to Stadium. I was on the wrong side though...here´s video.
- security was bad for me. Before gig I regognize one of the head of security man and took a little video for that. He saw it and one second later comes some guy and told me in English that If somebody see you shooting a video again, Im going to be kicked out. Thats a little scary cause the concert was far from start. I did put my camera on between my legs and record just the sound from Eleanor Rigby till to the End. Definetly one of the best gigs Ive ever been. -
Here's a nice concert review, unfortunately only in polish http://barock.pl/relacje/podglad/2270/Paul-McCartney

Here's the rough translation that I got by plugging the text into Google Translate. It's mostly easy to understand and a lovely piece. When, in the mid-90s I started my adventure with concerts, so to speak by world famous artists, each piece was for me an almost transcendental experience. For several days prior to the meeting with one of my idols, my mind was already on a Torwarze and Spodek, the concert felt like a Lotto winner accumulation, and then the next week I could not back down to earth. Of course, since then I could see dozens, if not hundreds of smaller or bigger events, grow up, and of course, take this type of event a suitable distance. All though it simply commonplace. However, when in the vicinity of 20 June, I realized that soon I will have the opportunity to associate with someone who, along with The Beatles formed my artistic sensibility, someone who works for the work I absolutely perfect and timeless, it turned out that about any distance of not can be no question. And for a moment I felt the same excitement again at years ago. I will not even try to judge whether it was the country's biggest music event of the year or a decade, I will also wondered whether in terms of implementing everything was OK, if there was a failure, is because when it comes to the emotions, it is difficult for traditional, cool thinking . Assure you, however, that when Paul intoned the text "Once there was a way ..." -played as an encore "Golden Slumbers" / "Carry That Weight" experienced the greatest musical moments that you can imagine. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, a song that already in the studio is very emotionally charged, and live, they are raised to the nth power. With this charge really hard to emotion. And these moments, filled with the truest magic, which, along with hundreds of similar to me, I will cherish the memory, it was without number. Then, when he sang grabbing his throat "You're asking me will my love grow, I do not know, I do not know" harrisonowskiego "Something" (-played at the beginning of the ukulele, later, to the accompaniment of the band). While lovely - as ever - "And I Love Her", and whose performance can only say "And I Love Him", or solemn, even majestic "The Long And Winding Road" and "Let It Be". The choral singing throughout the stadium the final phrase, "Hey Jude" will not be forgotten. This "on on on on, hey Jude" is probably already in your head forever. Of course, there was always just sublime and sentimental, Paul is at the end of the musician and composer of extremely large-minded, able to sell all kinds of emotions. During the "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" raged the whole stadium and the atmosphere had become almost a family, like the wingsowskim "Mrs. Vandebilt", the lilt "ho-hey-ho-ho-hey-ho" . Macca did not forget about his more predatory incarnation. It was a mandatory "Helter Skelter" (which is one of the fans so loudly demanded that the protection in the end had to get him out), and "Live and Let Die", during which it got hot - literally and figuratively - appeared on the scene pillars of fire and explosions. Has happened. Beautifully, too, that the Beatles were not focused exclusively on iron classics. Also reached after less corny things, such as "Your Mother Should Know" with a little underrated and adored by me beatlesowskiego "Magical Mystery Tour", and which, supposedly to this route did not perform live ever again. But it was also very different reasons - Macca also solidly prepared for a visit to our country. At the very beginning said that he would try to speak Polish. There is, however, limited to the rock medium, and phrases like "Hello Warszawo" or "Hi Polish." Still some texts interfere in our language (posiłkowałem of course cheat and he did it crookedly, but in this stuck all the charm). Before he began to "My Valentine" (another strong point of the total) revealed that the song he wrote for his wife, when "Hey Jude" conducted by the audience - ask properly "Now, Lord," 'And now, gentlemen themselves. " And just before the last encore he said all that, unfortunately, "We have to go", then of course all worried, but amused. McCartney also delighted condition. The musician played nearly three hours (almost 40 songs), and he looked as if he could do it at least twice as much. Incredible, it's hard to believe that just a few days earlier over 71 years. With all this, not the best sound system (well, the national stadium not really suitable in terms of acoustics for concerts) appears to be a minor headache. Oh, Paul, at the moment I've been waiting years. It was a long and winding road, but I am glad that finally landed in front of your door. Jarek Thomas

Wonderful week-end, wonderful show and wonderful voice. Hey Jude, I should say Hey Paul, was a magic moment. I met and I discussed with a lot of people. I didn't met any problem with security. I even had the chance to leave C5 to go in the first rows during the last encore.

Did someone take pictures of the merchandise booths? I made a screen capture of a video, but quality is not that great. It's not possible to see details of the products.

That's the best I can offer: However, the stuff they were selling seemed pretty regular. One thing I didn't find was the yellow Wings shirt that I really wanted to get (guess I'll have to settle for a different one off the new online merchandise store). PS. I bought 2 T-shirts, the black bearded Paul one (size M - fits perfectly) and the gray Warsaw-June-22-2013 (printed on the back) one (size M - too small/tight ). Now I'm waiting for the official store to stock size L.

Thank you for the picture!

The best opening, IMO, is when Paul has a ten minute respective film of his career. That really builds the suspense and anticipation for his concert. I really like what he did in 1989 and 1993. The 2002 opening, with all the actors and acrobats was cool, but I think a lot of people "didn't get it." I liked it.
