Taking the day as it comes .... a stay cation day .... I haven't really done anything at all today ... had breakfast and came here .... surfed ... I have things that I can do ... and things that I can put off (one and the same).
-
Am on staycation as well. Trying to work, but it's too hot!!! Ruined my eclipse glasses... freak accident... Murphy's Law is always in effect!!
-
Very happy with the new vanity & sink in the bathroom! Can't wait for DH to finish therest of the work in the bathroom.

Sunday night doesn't seem all that bad or bummer like (not the job itself) knowing the weekend is over and I have to go back to work. Wait ... I have tomorrow off

^ Got your glasses ready for the eclipse?
-
Hoping "Karl the fog" stays away tomorrow morning so we can see the eclipse!

I know I may not deserve it because of my own carelessness, however, through some miracle... May I be given another pair of safe eclipse glasses before the eclipse... ops: Otherwise I'm going to have to take an expensive eclipse cruise...

***BIG Sigh*** I was so worried I was going to lose them, or sit on them...something. So I put them face down on what I thought was white paper, instead it was this super sticky white tape

The total eclipse in KC was very cool. A little barbecue, a little white wine, and a little Venus and Mars Are Alright Tonight!!!

The eclipse in Joisey was a bit of a bust. The TV version from Oregon was beautiful, it included a prism effect at the end of totality. VERY VERY COOL!!! Back in Joisey, it was only going to be at 74% of totality. It was overcast and cloudy. Was very sad to see parents letting their children watch it without eclipse glasses. Saw two people filming it on their phones. This is supposed to hurt your phone somehow. The library had a live stream that conked out right before the bright bead of light at totality!!! From South Carolina Saw people on the live stream taking off their eclipse glasses too soon (before totality). Wonder how many people will wind up with vision problems? My sticky glasses actually worked, however only looked for a couple of seconds. It hurt a bit, so didn't want to chance it. Heard that lots of glasses with proper labeling, actually had posted no guarantees on their websites last minute. Guess an eclipse cruise is in my future!!! That will be a celebration!!!

I used a welding hood. LOL! But it was cloudy here...the sun just peeked out for a few. The mountaintop coverage was cool. Our weather guy was in Carbondale & he got very emotional with his coverage. Here's a pic of Paul watching it! https://www.instagram.com/p/BYERNQVD0Mc/

BAM! Wow that got eclipsed by the eclipse by the clouds eclipsing the eclipse *(I saw a BAM was done - but because it doesn't happen all the time - I threw one there too). This morning and into the afternoon started off with mostly blue sky - some puff clouds and the hazy type of clouds. During the prime of the eclipse - some thick thick rain clouds blocked the event once in a great while the sun popped through. Bummer - not like these things happen every day. It looked dimmer and felt cooler, but that could have been the clouds that were blocking everything. Unfortunately I didn't have any type of glasses or welding mask etc ... I tried some basic science stuff - such as a hole in a piece of paper over another sheet without real noticeable results (hole too big, too small, not the correct distance etc..) it showed something - just not good. I tried a magnifier from my back to the sun - again because of position and clouds - not good results. I put my phone like taking a selfie - off to the side of me .... got a few shots that looked like the drawing of the sun there were lines coming out of it my best - not intended to be - actually was streaks of sunlight against a full leaf tree the effect is cool - but does not show any of the eclipse. (It is the eclipse - but one would think it was just a picture of the sun on a cloudy day as it popped through) .... so then when it was 3/4 done .... what happens? The sky turns blue again ... Now it is mostly cloudy. I thought if I couldn't get a good view or anything, I could observe birds not singing or flying etc ... quiet crickets and all. because of the heavy clouds, they may have acted the same as a storm coming up - it looked dimmer, but I might have convinced myself of it and may not have thought so if I didn't know there was an eclipse. (80%). Oh well .....

Got very dark here during the eclipse & then - BAM! The moon....
-
Karl the fog (yes the fog here really has a name ) lifted enough that we could see the eclipse today!
-
Just found out this morning: Someone showed me eclipse photos from their phone - With the internals of the camera You see the photo of the sun With a reflection lower in the Picture - that little reflection is The eclipse. So I looked at mine again... And what I thought was a minor glare is indeed the eclipse The photos that I have aren't worth sharing - they aren't that good, but now that I see the sun as The picture and zoom in on the Glare knowing it is the eclipse Makes me feel slightly better About the pictures I did take.

Thinking of ou est la solei (sp?) During the eclipse
-
We had 94% coverage. The light dimmed down enough that cars were turning their lights on as though it were dusk. The temperature also dropped and the air felt cool.
-
For now this appears to be Eclipse central. The thing I noticed most was how fast the Moon Shadow zoomed by. I think it went across the US in 90 minutes at some really fast speed. You can see what I'm talking about in this APOD
