Hi dear Paul, This is rather long but I have to say it... I am a 47-year-old fan of yours born and raised in Iran, and living in Los Angeles since 1989. My first recollection of music is from when I was 5-6 years old trying to learn to play "those were the days" on harmonica. I had no idea that you had produced it but somehow I knew I loved it. Later on when I was a teenager, I heard the Beatles' music through my brothers. Before too long, that comforting and beautiful music bacame my life soundtrack, listening to it while studying, cooking for our family (my mom passed away when I was a teen), and going on walks. Your music seemed to console me, take me out of my not-so-happy days living in Iran in the 80's. I remember listening to the BBC on the shortwave radio after college hoping to hear your music. I screamed and danced through all the statics, don't think they even bothered me much! I explored your solo music later on, played and played each album until I knew all the words. I could not believe the richness and the innovation that came with album after album. Talking about being amazed! Now I live in Los Angeles! When I moved here in '89, you seemed to have just started touring again. I purchased the tickets as soon as they went on sale, counted the days and voila, the dream is finally coming true. That day, being in you presence was the biggest thing that could happen to me. Was it really true? Ever since then, I've been to two more of your fantastic shows, at the Staples Center and last year at the Hollywood Bowl. The Bowl concert was bigger than life for me. I was out of this world, with the full moon and a warm clear blue sky above, wow! (I had excused myself from the traditional Passover family gathering that night, to celebrate freedom in my own way) I just wanted to thank you and of course thank dear Linda, for all those magical moments. I am so grateful to both of you-for being there for each other- and making it possible for us to continue enjoying your divine music. I feel so lucky to have you and your music in my life. You bring consistency to my ever-distrupted life! Someone who's always been there for me, who's saved my soul without ever letting me down. I cannot thank you enough for all the beauty, magic and hope you've given me. I wish that someday we meet and I can thank you in person! I love you and wish the happiest for you and your dear family. Jacqueline P.S. My husband has also become a big fan of yours. We visited London a few years ago and stopped by your office building in Soho, as well as all the other holy sites that you and the Beatles walked upon!
