Hi just started and ready to start participating . I don't have any cool macca stories because im only 19, but im as big a fan as any. Just because i'm apart of this is weird generation (well i guess every generation is weird compared to the last) doesn't mean I have to listen to some of the noise calling itself music. I ACTUALLY MET A FRIEND OF PAULS! He may be unkown to any of my friends but im sure you know him, Mr. Chuck Berry! he's 85 and still rockin'. my favorite concert so far, but i am 1 billion% sure that it will become my 2nd favorite because I got a ticket to see him in houston!
When it came in the mail yesterday I was running around my house like I got the golden ticket to go see Willy Wonka. going alone, but going to be around people with the same favorite musician as me so i know im gonna have the best time.

Well, even though the show was listed on ticketmaster, it only sold about 250 tickets and was changed to a smaller room in the convention center. It's a real shame because i just don't think they did that well a job promoting it. anyways, there was a line for the bathrooms and so i went to go find a different one and I went down a hall and I guess i was close to back stage because there were a few people standing around, and then some doors open and in walks Chuck with his guitar already strapped on him
i managed to shake his hand and tell him how great I thought his music was and he said thank you, but he was in a hurry because he was already arriving late. A true living legend, I fell honored to have met him even if it was just in a passing moment for him. That night he played every single one of his hits (Roll over Beethoven, Maybellene, Johnny B. Goode, Rock N' Roll Music, My Ding-A-Ling) and more. Here's a pic I took during the concert:

Your story suggests he hasn't changed his "modus operandi" over the years. In a documentary that celebrated a much earlier anniversary of his, it was explained that when you book Chuck Berry the terms of the engagement are that the promoter provides a backing group of professional musicians familiar with Chuck's body of work capable of following his lead/whim. Chuck Berry turns up, unsupported by any staff, with his guitar in hand, moments before show-time, steps on stage, performs and leaves as rapidly as he arrived. One of those recalling working in that manner with him was Eric Clapton, who many years ago before his commercial success found himself so engaged. he recalled Chuck just launched into a song without warning they had to pick up the song and follow his lead watching throughout for sudden key changes at whim. Your recollection suggest nothing's changed
