Password issue
-
Hi! My username is "shacat" and I've been on the board for years. I tried to login today, but my password wasn't recognized and I was locked out of my account. I don't have access to the old email address I used that was associated with my username. (that email address has been deleted). And I discovered I couldn't post for help unless I was logged in. SO I created a new account. I would very much like to have access to my old account username; which is "shacat." I've been using it for YEARS. Can you please help me with a password reset so that I can login to it? Thank you
Leslie

Hi aranchick, my name is Leslie too! lol Nice to meet you!
I had the same issue when trying to log in to the new board... and locked myself out of my account, but that lockout only lasts about 12 hours or so, at least that's how it was last November. After a while I tried again, and when I typed in my password, I didn't type it all in small caps, I typed it case sensitive... forgot that the first letter of my password was a capital letter. Somehow the system is recognizing what your password looked like when you registered it. Wait several hours then try again to log in to your account... but make it "Case Sensitive"... exactly the way you registered it.
When I tried that, I was able to get in... then immediately changed my password, using current email. Haven't had any problems logging in since then, but seems like this login (unlike previous maccaboard) is case sensitive for password, at least for the first time you login.
Good luck, and hope this can be of help!

Hi
This is love2travel. I'm here visiting jl4761 for the festival in Austin TX. My password stopped working and I want to figure what to do to change my password. I have forgotten my old password, so I need to start fresh. What should I do?

I was wondering why you were logging in under jl4761’s account! When you put in your user name, is there anywhere that says Forgot Password? You can’t change your password unless you know your current one. A mod should hopefully be able to help you here. The only other thing you could do is re-register and just change your user name slightly. Like capitalize Love in love2travel. Never mind - it is already Love2travel. Change it to love2travel.

I just logged out, then went to log back in. At the top it says Request New Password, but I bet you have to know the old one to do that. There is no place for Forgot Password! Hope a Mod can help you!

Hi Nancy! Please be careful when you log out successfully then try logging back in unsuccessfully due to error messages that say "Your account has been compromised, please change your password" or "Request a new password" when you have been logging in and out successfully. Websites can't always catch this but someone, probably a hacker, can put a fake web page on the maccaboard as well as other websites such as Bank of America, Amazon and eBay just to name a few, that looks so real but it s not! You change your password on that same webpage and the hacker will get into your account which can lead to worse problems. This criminal act is called Phishing, please read up on it and be prepared what to look for.

Thanks, I know all about Phishing. I occasionally get spoof/phishing emails and I always forward them to the real company. I would never change my password without opening a new window and logging into the site.
Did Love2travel get her login fixed?

No, she hasn't but is working on it. Thanks for asking.

This is for the Moderator's, my girlfriend still cannot log into her account, what should she do. She is love2travel.
As for me, I have noticed repeatedly over and and over that everytime I log into the Maccaboard, my access is denied the first time. However, the second time my access is granted. This happens to me everytime now. This may sound strange to you but while I am trying to log in the first time, the log in screen has bigger letters where as the second time, the letters are smaller and back to normal. If you wish to discuss this further please feel free to contact me through e-mail.

She is Love2travel. Just have her start (register) a brand new account as love2travel and pick a password she will remember. Problem solved.

She tried that Nancy, its not working for her. She'll be visiting me after Christmas, we'll both try to get this situation resolved while she's visiting me. Thank you for your advise Nancy.

Well that is weird! She should be able to pick a slightly different user name and a new password and register. What exactly happens when she tries this?

L2T is working today, as soon as she gets off work, I'll have her explain it to me in detail. After that, I'll explain it to you exactly what happens.

In aid of reaching the proper tech support, I've just posted this exact message on the threads titled: "WOW! What the heck is going on here?" and also "Technical Difficulties" Hopefully, it will be seen by someone who can best help.
I really feel that people might not be visiting this site due to the difficulties of logging in. So, here is the message again, repeated, to reach someone who might help:
Hello out there....is there a tech who is meant to help with the abyssmal log in issues that continue to plague this site? It was once a joy for me to pop in - I now feel increasingly frustrated by the log in process and judging by other posted complaints here I'm not alone.
I am beyond frustrated.....every time I want to visit this site it takes me several attempts to log in. Access denied, access denied, access denied, access denied - then I'm "in"- or so I think, because NOW when I try to get into the 'maccaboard 'I need to log in again, denied, log in, denied - then I'm in....
It is not a password issue, I've the ticked the "remember me" box. It's been happening for months now.
Never had these log in problems with the old site. Nor, the battery drain and the physical heating up of my computer when I visit paulmccartney.com.
Would someone PLEASE kindly look into these tech issues that others here have also taken the trouble to describe?
It would be most appreciated.

It sounds like you are logging in two different places if I read you right. Here’s what I do. I keep a tab open of the login page for the Maccaboard. That is the only place you have to log in. I also have “Remember Me” checked, but I don’t see that it does a damn thing. I’ve had it happen a couple times where I got the “Access Denied” but was able to log in on the 2nd try. I know you’re not alone - oobu24 has had problems off & on logging in and staying logged in. Nobody here ever answers our posts. You could try writing directly to Triplets Love Paul, who is an Admin. Good luck - I know it is frustrating!

I used to say oh I never log out. HA! THEY log me out now. Every time I come on now I have to log in & I also get denied although I have the remember me ticked & a password is there but it is not acknowledged. It is really getting more & more maddening to even come here. This among all the other problems & requests really do need to be addressed.

Hi Nancy
Thank you for your reply - to be clear, I'm not logging in in two different places at all. Actually, the process you suggest I also do. Here is what occurs once I've finally logged in, I'm taken immediately to the 'download page'where it requests a further log in to access other 'fun' stuff. Whether I log in to that page or just try to get into the "maccaboard" it makes no difference. I have to start the log in process once more...grrr.

Thank you for supporting my attempt to address this issue - you are more succinct than I! You know I feel your pain....
