Anyone know if 1st row VIP seats are waaay to the side? Is it better to go for 3rd row VIP?
Yes Terry, front row are side seats. There are a few near the aisle but let's face it, you have to be lucky to get them. However the 1500 hot sound tickets are generally middle or if it is in a side section is generally more toward the middle

I did a front row in Manchester and we were the last two seats near the outter seats. Was NOT worth $2000

At the last St. Louis show, I was two seats away from the very end of the first row. If I was to do it again, I would go for the $1500 seat a couple rows back to get a better view. Even though Paul's Scottish head of security (can't come up w/ his name right now...) told the local security guy my camera was fine, he decided on his own after the show started that it wasn't. So for a total of $4000 (not including travel costs, hotel, food, etc.), I didn't get a single photo of Paul. And the security guard stood in front of me the whole time.
What kind of camera? Detachable lense?

I've actually had Brian Riddle (Scottish security guy ) come out and tell local security to leave me alone and others as well. Kind of surprised, he may not have noticed the hassle Mine is a fixed lens Sony. I bring two cameras....the bigger 50X zoom for soundcheck or when I'm sitting a bit further away or my Smaller Sony that fits in your pocket with 30X zoom

Is the 50x a Nikon or is that a Sony too?

Both cameras are Sony's 50X zoom is model DSC-HX-300 and the small 30X zoom which you'll get in anywhere is DSC-HX50V

I've been shooting with Sony cameras for years and have been very happy with their performance.

Yeah, detachable lens, I know -- my fault! (Even though I didn't have an additional lens with me.) I didn't see Brian again until Live and Let Die, so I can't fault him. He's always seemed pretty nice to everybody. The lens didn't even make it in the door in Indy. I'm not buying another camera -- so I'm free of the worry for Chicago and just enjoying the show(s)!

Ok, fingers crossed I get good VIP seats for Chicago tomorrow. Where is everyone staying in Chicago? Would love to hook up with everyone!
-
Will worry about the hotel after I get the tickets! Not sure where I will stay yet, Anyone know a decentll affordable hotel not far from the United Center?
-
Good plan, Bob. I don't even know if PM will have VIP seats or if we should head straight to Ticket Master. I did hear that Lady Gaga is coming right after Paul and that rooms are booking up quickly near the venue.

That probably is more attributable to Taste of Chicago.

People who are in Chicago mainly for Taste are not likely to be staying near the United Center. It's too far. They would be on Michigan Ave. There are not that many hotels close to the venue anyway.
-
How far is the Miracle Mile from the venue? How safe is it near the venue?
-
Magnificent Mile?
-
Woops- yes, that's what I meant.

I am THRILLED that Paul is coming back to Chicago....I keep checking my email....still no information on presale
