Doesn’t anyone else have a Mad Day Out photo to post?
-
Wonder if the photographer in the pic is Tom Murray or if he’s the one taking the photo of the photographer! Lol!
He might be the actual photographer in the pic, because this photo is not in his Mad Day Out book.
He DID take the one of them in the flowers/garden where Paul has a “mean” look on his face.

I think we've posted most of these before in the Beatles thread.

I have this magazine (bought in 1968)

When I posted this on FB, it identified George as Gavin Pring who plays George in The Fab Four tribute band (and is coincidentally also from Liverpool!)

The random photo of the Beatles appearing outside the semi-detached house... I wonder if that was taken because it was vaguely (it has no front porch) similar to John's childhood home 'Mendips'? Perhaps they were passing and one of the Beatles commented on the similarity?

In Tom Murray’s book, Mad Day Out (he took that photo) he said they were on Swain’s Lane, just randomly. He also has pics in the book of himself revisiting the sites in 2016, and he brought along copies of the original photos.
He only brought 2 rolls of film, but all were in color! (Or colour to you Kestrel!) The funny thing was, he didn’t know ahead of time who he would be photographing! He walked into he place he was told to go (where John had the parrot on his shoulder) and as he came down the hall he heard someone playing Lady Madonna on the piano. He opened the door and said “Oh, $hit, it’s Paul McCartney!” He was 25 at the time, the youngest photographer there, and they got along famously. Plus, he was driving his Jaguar XK150 and “That seemed to impress them.”

Thanks Nancy, it sounds like an interesting book.

It is! He also signed it and numbered it, plus had it delivered to my hotel so I wouldn’t have to drag it around the festival. It cost $80 which is probably a bit steep for most people. I had wanted to get it in Aug. 2016 when I met him selling it at the Adelphi (BeatleWeek) but even though it was less expensive there, it was too big and heavy for me to fly home with it. Got it at Abbey Road On The River in May 2017 when he was there. Had driven there, so no problem taking the book home!

Note in the photo on the left, Francie Schwartz can be seen in the mirror.

The one on the left is the one I was referring to that Tom Murray took.
