According to Wikipedia:
It cost around $10 million to get the rights for the Beatles' songs to be featured in the film.
I posted on The Beatles Mentioned On TV that the director said (on The Graham Norton Show) that the $10 million was the 2nd largest amount he’d paid out on a film. The 1st was Leonardo DiCaprio’s salary (in The Beach, which was $20 million!)

Danny Boyle's musical fairy tale about a world without the Beatles, in which an indie rocker brings them back, is really a fantasy of rebooting the Beatles. It's cute and watchable, but it lacks the magic of discovery.

Looks like Paul "remembers" it two different ways.

Also,

Curiously, McCartney had previously remembered the quote as coming from Ringo Starr.
Linda McCartney: Ringo also said, 'Eight days a week.'
Paul: Yeah, he said it as though he were an overworked chauffeur: [Heavy accent] 'Eight days a week.' When we heard it, we said, 'Really? Bing! Got it!' -
“Yesterday” is at times a witty, clever film. But as the story progresses, it begins to feel more like a series of scenes designed to set up John, Paul and George.
