Been seeing a fair few of the signed books on eBay which is so infuriating! Can't believe people happily took that amazing moment from someone. Still don't know why we weren't allowed to ask for a dedication for the signature as I felt that that would prove that it's for a fan.
Did you ask for your name only to be told he can't? I've read that that happened a lot, i forgot to! But you'd think the staff would inform the person about to go up, rather than make that person feel awkward in front of Paul having him say no to them.
Usually from what i've seen his signings always have a dedictaion to stop sales etc (2006 ecce cor meum, 2008 fireman, 2013 new) [..]
Yes, even more so, I've seen McCartney actually ask for names to write down instantly at places with a high seller/fan-ratio, like for example the stage door of a high-profile US TV show. When he came out the stage door during the Radio City Music Hall 2009 frenzy he even said "alright, straight to eBay!" when a seller declined to say his name.
And it was listed before, "no dedications", but in the heat of the moment with the little pause after writing his signature it all made me doubt lol. Ah well, I shouldn't feel too bad, I showed my apprecation to McCartney ten-fold.

Eeee Cor Blimey, did you see the above photo I cropped for you?(on page 5 of this thread)
yes thank you so much!!!!
Still can't believe it got captured. Did you see the video (blink and you miss it) i linked to (via the grandude circle on pauls instagram) that seems to be where it all comes from? Someone has put a frame by frame slow version you you tube so you can see it all. Totally happy!
Me on bended knee in front of Paul with my son!
I did that and linked it above ;).
edit: Ah ffs, the embedded YouTube video disappeared from that post. No wonder you didn't see it. This is why I stopped posting here.

Oh i hadn't noticed the "no dedications" where did it say that - on the board outside? We never got to read it close up due to having a child they made us wait differently.
I did that and linked it above ;).

oh wow thank you! And yes, this new version of the site makes you tear your hair out at times! But a big thank you for doing the you tube version

Yes, it did on the board outside. They changed quite a few rules last minute. To be honest, even then I thought they just meant by that that he obviously isn't going to write a long shout-out in the book for your family member who can't be there. Your name seemed just standard, for reasons stated earlier. Ah well, misunderstanding, at least I got told politely by Sir Paul himself .
No problem, I was peeking at this thread - but of course couldn't log-in... - after I've seen his Instagram Story and already thought that might be you. Very happy it was. This is the best it's going to get, a video to treasure forever. Perfect lucky timing in the queue for the social media guy to post precisely that.

It also says "Paul will be answering your questions on instragam stories this week" with a button to type a question, but it's just a screen grab so wont type.
Anyone know how you do that? I'd ask one!
Go to his Twitter page. You can find the tweet about this and ask questions there.
Just went to his IG page and he is answering questions now via video! You can type in a question.
ah i missed it! Watching a thing back on the circle bit i mentioned above i can only see 2 questions asked? I take it there was another way to watch it and that there wasn't only 2!!
I had to get on my laptop for the sound to work. He answered 2 questions and will answer more this week. Keep checking back.

one last post then i need to get to bed Zzzzz but that bloke who always filmes everything Paul does, he usually wears a hat - anyone at a gig/souncheck/event would know who i mean. Does that footage EVER get used on anything?! Cos i know he was filming us today when Paul sang Queenie Eye to my son, but don't hold out any hope of ever seeing it as most of teh stuff i've seen him film at any event never gets used... or does anyone know of a secret paul site i'm missing out on?!?!
(If you can't tell i'm happy happy but desperately hoping to find a picture or anything as proof to my memory that we met him, to get past the fact i didn't shake his hand doh!)
that's Charlie, and all the stuff he films is for Paul. I've seen some of the concert footage turn up in those little promo films they do for Paul's tours (like the TV ads or the short promos on YouTube) but the rest of it is all in Paul's vaults somewhere, I reckon.
And congrats to you and your son and sister for being at the event, that's wonderful for you all!

Thank you - it's still all a bit surreal!
Paul really does like to film *everything* doesn't he, i bet we'd all like to raid the MPL vaults!
There was also a photographer with them too for that bit , i presume he was part of Paul's team too (don't know his name), shame none of it will surface - he was taking pictures of Paul and my son singing

Usually from what i've seen his signings always have a dedictaion to stop sales etc (2006 ecce cor meum, 2008 fireman, 2013 new), but i don't think high in the clouds in 2005 did - do you think book publishers like their book to be as "valuable" as possible as a first edition, so are wrongly happy for them to go sky high? Or am i synical?!
Not parting with mine, or should i say ours, as i'll share it with my son.
The sign outside said no dedications and the security guard you see before meeting Paul reiterates it. It crossed my mind to ask but I decided not to push it & just be so grateful that I'm meeting Paul. I did find it a bit odd but not complaining as I got to meet him anyways. I'll always have the memory of our chat & I've luckily seen a fair few people upload photos that have me chatting to Paul! But even if there was no photos I would've been delighted by how I met him.

When we went up no one had told us not to ask, but as i've said luckily in a way i was too busy to remember to ask for a name anyway, so didn't ask! I guess by the time the early people with the kids had been done then the person you see before Paul would realise they had to start telling people in case they hadn't read the board outside. No one was telling the first group.
And yes Gordy, like you, i'm just blown away to have met him, the photos are a huge bonus but even without them we all *met* him didn't we Love what he said about your pants as well, very cool.
(edit to say though that i think i may be coming across as a bit hyper at finding photos etc but it's due to the fact that yes *I* will always remember meeting Paul, but my almost 3 year old wont really have much memory of it really, so having a picture of him actually meeting Paul is just such a huge bonus as he will be able to have that)

I think he gaive the kids dedications (as afterall it is a kids book haha) but I was the first of the nonkids (aka when the cute part stopped) to go so the rules might’ve been a bit different for the general Paul fans. I saw that he made a fair few books out to the children. But as I said, not going to push it. Just glad we got to have a wee chat & I got to shake his hand
Pants? Don’t you mean kecks?
I’m mainly glad there’s a photo so if I meet someone & they don’t believe I can prove it haha. Some people have asked me how I got the photo despite their being a no phone rule which is odd considering I obviously didn’t take the photos hahaha

Yes, fantastic kecks!!!! And hey the cute part carried on with you, i'm sure Paul thought so!
Are you sure the signed to kids ones were Paul and not the illustrator? I know some people got her to put their name on (again i forgot!!) . I know the family with kids a few down from us (they're not on the movie) asked Paul to put their name but he said something like "they've asked me not to sorry", as we chatted in the lift down. Maybe it was hit and miss. Anyway, enough about names!! We met him! I just never thought this chance would happen... not now.
And big thanks Oobu

Gordy, what’s really funny is what you call pants are underpants, right? Kecks are formally known as trousers in the U.K. When you first wrote “kecks” I thought maybe they were shoes since we call cool shoes “kicks” here. (Btw, your sneakers were cool too!)

Here's a four minute video of Paul reading to the children and answering some questions plus interacting with some youngsters during the signing.

Maybe it was the illustrator now that I think about it. Doesn't matter in the end as we got to be there haha. Now for me to slide into pretty much every conversation of how I've met Paul McCartney for the rest of my days haha

Yeah pants & underpants mean the same thing in the UK. Kecks is a where it's said in Northern England & sometimes Scotland. Tends to be trousers that is said throughout the UK, in Scotland we sometimes call them breeks! Everyday's a school day

This person is selling a signed Hey Grandude and the second photo they're using is the photo of me with Paul This has infuriated me as I had no say in this & taking the special moment that I got with Paul to make a profit disgusts me! Getting in contact with the seller telling them to remove the picture of me now

No cuter than any other (REAL) fan who dresses up. Kids aren't special and don't deserve special treatment by audiences.

Whoa that makes me so angry i totally get how you feel, complete tossers for selling the book and to have the nerve to steal a picture of somenoe knowing it lends credibilty to their advert, i hate some people
