The Wikipedia entries are not very informative in this respect, so I thought I'd come here and ask. Is there somewhere I can see exactly which shows the tracks on Wings Over America and the upcoming Rockshow DVD were all recorded? I'm just wondering how many songs on Rockshow are video versions of songs I already have on WOA (and in video on the McCartney Years DVD) and how many are as of yet unreleased on CD/DVD.

ROCKSHOW was filmed at the Wings concerts at Seattle Kingdome and the Los Angeles Forum. You can tell they were different shows, as even in the same song members of the band are wearing different clothes. There is nothing to indicate the versions we hear on the WOA album come from the movie. In other words, different sources. In fact, there has been a great deal written that much of the WOA album was not even recorded in front of an audience. But that is grist for a different mill! Also, I don't think there is any information anywhere as to what shows MAY have been recorded and then put on the album.

I remember reading that the album has tracks from shows in Seattle, Boston, Los Angeles, and New York. But I may be mis-remembering.

Could be. I have never read that there even was an indication where or what locales the LP was recorded. But that info may be correct, and there may be a list somewhere. I haven't read everything out there. For all we know, the deluxe edition may contain that info!

Very fab! I need to get that one. I was at the Denver show, so the last three songs have great interest to me. As do all the others!! Ha ha!

Book is a fantastic solo Beatles reference from 1969 to 2000. I've e-mailed the authors and asked them to consider writing a sequel with information from 2000 to the present. They are "thinking about it". BTW...I was at the Uniondale show.

Very cool! Yeah, that was one fantastic concert, right? I was twelve. Two years later I bought a Rickenbacker bass and still have it.

Was just wondering about this myself. Thanks for sharing! I love some of the Rockshow versions better than WOA and the other way around as well. Kept coming back to Macca's neck during the film because one song he's got two necklaces, and the next song he's back to one. I enjoy both the RS and WOA versions a lot though. Always great to have some variety. Now I gotta check out this "Eight Arms To Hold You". Sounds fascinating!

So depending on exactly which performances were used in rockshow, there could be anywhere from no overlap, to 8 songs. Thanks.

I was thinking the same thing! I've been a Beatles fans for over a decade but owned no solo material until half a year ago, and now I've absorbed it all. The book would be the next logical step.

I also saw a book on Amazon due out later this year called Man On the Run that details Paul during the 70s, it looks like it could be good! That being said, there's a book out already called Band on the Run about Wings and the 70s and it's lousy, don't waste your money or time on it.
