You know, I'm getting fed up and very tired of his bellyaching. It's what. 56-58 years ago and he's still whining?!!! Things happen. Decisions were made. Two of them are dead--for a long time. Instead of starting up his own successful band, something much harder, but not impossable given what a hugely talented pool of talent was out there,you've chosen the easy route--an endless pity party. Poor me. That train left A. LONG. TIME. AGO. Wer've ALL made wrong calls. Get over yourself.

He does have his own band (The Pete Best Band) and he and the band, including his brother Roag also on drums, performed for a group of us who went to the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico in 2014 for a 5-night all-inclusive "Beatles vacation." Joe Johnson, who now hosts the Star Vista Flower Power cruises, was the host. Also there was Denny Seiwell, Laurence Juber and Jim Berkenstadt (who wrote The Beatle Who Vanished - about Jimmie Nicol)
I don't think Pete goes around whining (or whinging as the Brits say) but when someone wants to interview him, he tells it from his point of view. I can understand why they canned him. They loved Ringo and he "fit" whereas Pete was a loner and did not. I spent 3 hours with him, Roag and the band and I think he barely spoke the entire time. Roag is the gregarious one. We chatted away - we both have twins, so had that in common.

Interesting. Still think he's too locked into what happened though and I'm basing it on interviews I've read and seen. My great-grandfather turned down an offer to join Alexander Graham Bell who had just invented what would become Canada's huge phone company--Bell. (We could've been filthy, filthy rich by now). He just laughed off the bad call as life. He went on to invest in real estate, and did well enough to live well in his retirement. (though my family never saw any moneyy--he needed all of it--there was no pension back then.) . I met someone recently who grew up in Liverpoole and watched The Beatles play in dingy clubs when they were just starting. There was no division between performers and club patrons back then. He had some stories to tell!
