"Glastonbury Festival has responded to worries over the growing coronavirus outbreak.

Fears have been raised by someGlastonbury-goers after chief medical officer Chris Whitty warned that "reducing mass gatherings" might be appropriate amid the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19.

However, the festival, which opens its gates in June for its 50th anniversary, has said it is continuing to plan and prepare for the event".

This won't effect just the south of Europe, since it's rapidly spreading without grip due to the incubation time, and will do so for the coming months. I'm not going into whether this is media fear or not, but it will affect decisions by bookers and venues, especially those from America.

Unfortunately it seems the large gathering ban has been extended until 31st May in France at least. https://variety.com/2020/film/global/cannes-film-festival-coronavirus-1203524705/

I saw Adam Lambert & Queen have cancelled a show in Paris on 26th May. But haven't heard of any other official show cancellations yet, so hopefully the ban will be lifted by the time Paul's show comes around.

Ernst Happel Stadium, Vienna - 27th June, 2013
                Echo Arena, Liverpool - 28th May, 2015

Unfortunately this coronavirus epidemic is going to be freaking people out for a while. Travel is already down, events will be cancelled in an abundance of caution (perhaps justified -- we don't really know yet), and it's going to mess with lots of stuff. It's messing with the stock market, too. At least for a while -- certainly weeks, probably months -- there's going to be lots of uncertainty. It sucks. But hey, in the U.S., Mike Pence is in charge so everything will be fine!

On March 18 I travel to Dublin for the concert of The Who, they play in a closed space for 14,000 people and for now it has not been canceled and I am very surprised, I am quite uncomfortable with the trip just to travel in this situation. . Although I think it could be canceled in the next few days, as the disease progresses. Regarding Paul's summer concerts, I have tickets for Bordeaux, Lucca and Barcelona ... and Sting on July 23 in Parma Italy ... and my intuition is that they will also be canceled, 16 weeks for most events this summer. And that's too little time for the fucking coronavirus to disappear from our lives

As mentioned in the Paris show thread, it seems that events are being allowed to go ahead in France if the roof of the venue is left open, so that sounds promising.

Good grief, I'm getting so fed up with this paranoia. I know you have to take precautions, but the whole fucking world can't shut down over this bullshit. We have to go on with our lives. Just do all that you can to encourage sick people to stay home. The rest of us can't afford to hide away for God knows how long. There are places to go and things to do!

I bet Paul and his team are monitoring the virus situation on a daily basis in each country included in his tour before reaching a final decision.

Countries like Italy and France seem to be doing their best to prevent it from spreading further, so hopefully we will see an improvement soon.

I have similar cocnerns. I'm going to the Lucca gig in June. At the moment the virus is contained in the Milan region and advice from the UK FCO is that it's ok to travel to Italy, save for those areas in the north. I'm sure the team at MPL are keeping an eye on this. Paul is obviously fit and healthy but he does fall into the higher at risk category by dint of his age.

Right now China seems to be rebounding after 2 1/2 months. Plus it will be getting warmer. Lets calm down and all send some positive prayers out into the Universe, for an early end to this serious health situation. Those people over at the World Health Organization are really monitoring this very carefully.

I'm thinking Europe is acting very well in the face of this compared to the situation in the US. We are just getting testing Friday, so hopefully we can quickly test every one to reassure people and get treatment to those who need it. Staying home and cooking and freezing a months worth of meals, so I'll stay well for the concert(s).  Doing home study for my pre nursing.

Praying for us all, to stay healthy and follow the precautions. According to a Duke University study, prayer has a measureable positive impact on helping those who are sick...

Group prayer had 50% greater healing results

The world hasn't shut down, it is just being careful until there is more certainty about the virus and its containment.  I don't see anybody hiding away in America.  Maybe you can "ask John" about the virus since you claim to spiritually talk to him.

Book on hotels.com and you don't have to pay until arrival, plus most hotels have the option of free cancellation. I'm supposed to be going to the same show. Getting nervous now that the tour will be postponed or even cancelled. Id say a decision will be made one way or the other  in the next week or so. Fingers crossed!

some hotels require 48 hours for free cancellation, tho, so read the fine print carefully.  On the Paris thread, someone mentioned that it was indoor shows only that were being banned, and that the ban was changed from 31 May to 15 April.   So if Bordeaux is an outdoor show, you may be ok.
