Barcelona/Europe Tour dates Corona Virus
-
If "many rumours" are the same people repeating the same personal thoughts, let's not take this as facts just yet :).
To back up what I said about what the Dutch organisation communicated behind the scenes, they are also stating on their event page, in full words: "this concert will be postponed, new date not yet known" as recent as today: https://www.mojo.nl/concerten/paul-mccartney/ As opposed to the easy cancellation of many other tours by them, big or small, which were announced as such weeks ago.
If it will be a full cancellation of the tour after all, it's a sudden decision, as recent as this week. As I argued earlier, McCartney's own words and the long weeks of silence show that as well.
-
If the entire tour is canceled, will it be the end of the Freshen Up tour?
I believe that some concerts will be canceled, but others will not
-
I hope not cancellation.
I was so happy that my daughter would be able to see him... She recently had said dadly if she would never be able to see a Beatles concert, and I told her she wouldn't be able to see the Beatles or John, but if there was a chance I would take her to see Paul, hoping he would come close someday. And there he was! So I bought tickets and made her happy... until this all happened. I just hope she can see him someday.

It seems McCartney's team left the organisation hanging and did not put effort in the proposed Spring 2021 dates, but cancelled after all: https://www.groupama-stadium.com/paul-mccartney-concert-programme-le-7-juin-annule/
I have just clicked again on that link and now the page is not available. There's just a message saying "Content not found". I wonder why?
However, by clicking on the following link we can see that the concert is still being shown as cancelled:
The following image is also still stored at the stadium website:

They probably jumped the gun, because McCartney's team likes to keep us in the dark for a few more days, haha...
There was a quote by McCartney and all on the situation, so it's not something the organisation made up themselves.
-
At this point, I'd prefer an outright cancellation with refunds rather than postponing. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable attending a mass event like that next year, either, as long as this virus is around. And any concerts next year also come with uncertainties as there could be future local outbreaks and the like.
It's ridiculous we still don't know anything about the tour in most cases. What would have been the harm in telling us that they're trying to work out postponed dates via this website at least even if they couldn't yet give any details?

Just had an email from Eventtravel confirming al the France shows are cancelled! Can't believe we had to wait this long to just be told it's cancelled

Same.

I've just got an email from Event Travel regarding the cancellation of the show in Barcelona:
CANCELLATION OF PAUL McCARTNEY CONCERT:
Jun 17, 2020 – Olympic Stadium, BARCELONA“Due to the current situation and given the restrictions that the government has imposed on the staging of live music events and other mass gatherings, it will not be possible to stage the Paul McCartney concert due to be staged in Barcelona at the Lluis Company Olympic Stadium, as part of the Freshen Up tour. Given the special preparations required for these events, including the mobility required of the artists, assistants, workers and all working personnel needed to stage the show, it would not be possible to guarantee either the security of the public or provide a satisfactory experience.”
The refund of tickets purchased for this event will be carried out using the same means of payment that were used to buy them.
Message from Paul McCartney: “We were looking forward to seeing you all this summer for what we know would have been much fun. The band and I are so sorry we can’t be with you, but these are unprecedented times and the wellbeing and safety of everyone is the priority. I hope you are all keeping well as we look forward to the brighter times ahead. We will rock again. Love Paul”Tickets for the concert will be refunded back to the original payment method in line with our terms and conditions, starting May 18, 2020.You will receive a cancellation invoice at the time of us processing your refund.

Want to know why did Paul say it was postponed only a few weeks back? Not angry at the fact it's cancelled, angry at the way it's been done
-

Me too. I'm wondering what changed, since it originally looked like they would be postponed.
Also wondering what the "current and future commitments" are. The musical? Something must be in the works for next year.

The "current and future commitments" excuse is not the real truth for me. Some people think the postponement was not possible because Paul has already another shows in the radar for 2021, but I'm not so sure about that. He seemed to be very concerned about the pandemic in the Howard Stern interview and in the Lady Madonna performance. I think he is not going on tour until we got a cure for the virus and MPL didn't want to told us the true reason. And we don't know when things are going to be normal, which makes difficult book new dates.

That's a good point. If that is the reason, I wouldn't blame Paul at all for not wanting to take any chances. Everyone's safety is the priority. I think we would all accept that as a good enough reason for a cancellation, though, so I don't know why they'd feel the need to make up an excuse.

PR always feel the need to spin things out, I guess. It could be the musical altho nobody knows when Broadway or London theatres are going to reopen, either. I do have a feeling they were trying hard to postpone rather than cancel and were trying to book a new list of 2021 dates that they could announce, but it was just too complicated to realign everything with all the different countries involved; I imagine it's a lot harder than rearranging a bunch of dates that are all in the same country. I'm glad they finally made it official so people can get refunds. I frankly don't expect any tours by any artist during 2020.

I don't think any artist would say that would expect a cure for the virus; it would be more acceptable to tell the fans that it was not possible to set new dates.
But as thenightfish said, there were many countries on this leg of the tour, which could make things difficult to reorganize the shows.

Agreed. I can speak for Italy and the original idea was to simply postpone the concerts in Lucca and Naples to 2021. There were also some interviews with the organizers, the mayors of the two cities etc confirming this.
But it's not easy to reschedule a Paul McCartney event... which is much more complicated than average.
Plus I also do believe Paul was not so confident about how the situation would be evolving ... and probably not even so sure about his plans for 2021. I am not really sure he feels like touring now. I think he has other priorities - and I understand it.
