Wanderlust (Cover)
-
Hey guys, hope everyone is staying safe and well during these crazy times. Although I'm a frequent visitor and read most posts, it's been a while since I've posted here myself. For my own amusement, I started recording some acoustic arrangements of songs that I love, including "Wanderlust". My brother and I are currently "social distancing" in different locations, so we've been sending audio files back and forth to one another to build the tracks. Anyway, I hope you enjoy our arrangement. Stay safe everyone!

Very nice. I really enjoyed it, and will listen to it again.

Great version of "Wanderlust"guys and great to see you posting on this Site, Anthony. So glad you also posted "Put It There" again. My absolutely favorite cover version of Paul's great song.

Hey Anthony...just saw you and your brother's version of "Martha My Dear". Love it! I've already become a "Rebel Kicks" fan.
My wife are bunkered down in our house near Tampa Florida. My wife is a life long nurse (she went to Columbia Univ) and her specialty is "infectious diseases". She is taking good care of me and making sure I'm following all the proper procedures.
As I mentioned, I love your version of Put It There with your Dad. I'm sure your Dad got his sons into the Beatles when you were just young pups.
Just curious, have you done any Paul covers from Egypt Station like "Hand in Hand", "Confidante", "Do It Now" or "Happy With You".
We've been doing some voting here on which songs (probably 1 or 2) that Paul will do in the nationally televised concert for the Coronavirus Concert on 4/18. Most people have agreed that McCartney will probably get in his comfort zone and do either Blackbird or if he has a piano Let It Be. The other part of the question is which song or two do they "wish" he would do and get a little more adventurous. Some of the picks were Hope of Deliverance, Hope for the Future, Little Willow, How Kind of You, Calico Skies, Someone Who Cares or One of These Days. I would love any of the latter songs myself.

B J,
Thank you so much! I always felt that 'Martha My Dear' was an overlooked gem on The White Album, and it was really fun transcribing the piano part and turning it into a finger-picking guitar part. We're trying to make the best of the current situation by staying as productive as possible, writing/demoing original material while doing this acoustic covers passion project.
My wife is a nurse as well, she works at NYU Langone; it's a scary time to be a health care worker, that's for sure. I've always admired people who work in that field, it takes a special kind of person to deal with the things that they do on a daily basis.
Thank you! 'Put It There' has also always been a favorite of ours, and it's a song I strongly associate with my dad and the bond that we have. He's a musician as well (he plays a few instruments, but he's mainly a vocalist that specializes in the Great American Songbook), so he introduced my brother and I to a wide array of music from as far back as I can remember. It's funny, some of my earliest memories are of being in the backseat of my parents' car listening to "Flowers in the Dirt" and "Off The Ground". Oddly enough, I knew who Paul McCartney was before I was introduced to The Beatles, haha.
We haven't done any covers off of "Egypt Station", but that would definitely be something I would like to do. There are just a TON of solo McCartney songs that are incredible, they deserve to be more widely known. I've been really digging on some of the bonus tracks from "Egypt Station" lately, especially "Frank Sinatra's Party" and "In A Hurry".
Yeah, unfortunately I'd have to agree with the sentiment that Macca will probably stick to more well known material for the television special. I would love nothing more than to see him perform one of the lesser-known songs you listed above, or even debut a brand new, unreleased song! Whatever the case, I'm just glad that he's staying healthy, and it'll be nice to see him perform on the program. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us! Haha.
Stay well!
All the best,
Anthony

Thank you so much, really appreciate that! Check your PM's, I'll email you an mp3

Beautiful rendition! Wanderlust is in my top 25 favorite McCartney songs! Can you provide the link to Martha My Dear?
I was an O.R. nurse and glad to be retired for 2 years now. I can't imagine what the nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors, etc. are going through!
Are you and your brother twins?

Why thank you very much Anthony! Was trying to figure out how to change formats. Not surprised to hear your Dad is a vocalist. Your brother's and your voice blend so well and is so enjoyable to listen to, you must have inherited his gift!!

Thank you so much, Nancy! Same here, I've always really loved this song, and pretty much the entirety of the"Tug Of War" album (including the B-sides, 'Rainclouds' and 'I'll Give You A Ring'). Here's a link to our version of 'Martha My Dear':
There really are no words to describe the current situation, it's completely unprecedented. We can only hope that people listen, and continue to follow social distancing to flatten the curve until we get through this. In addition to my wife, I have a lot of friends and family who are nurses, and they're all saying that they've never dealt with anything like this, just in the pure volume of patients alone. Truly a scary time, and it really puts a lot of things into perspective.
No, we're not twins, but we actually get that a lot, haha! We're three years apart

Thank you, Nancy! We're thinking about doing a cover from "McCartney" since the 50th anniversary is fast approaching
