I heard the U.S. now has the most cases of any country. (81,321) And more than 1000 deaths - more than China or Italy.

Abbey Road crossing made famous by The Beatles finally able to be repainted while everybody stays home

All pretty and painted (4:14 am now in London)

I'm not sure how accuarate that story headline really is. The zebra crossing is always being repainted and it wasn't that long ago when the whole road was resurfaced. If anything they might be taking the opportunity to re-paint the crossing becasue of decreased vehicle traffic, meaning they can get away with not having to use temporary traffic lights.

The U.S. death toll passed 2,000 today, and half the country still isn't implementing social distancing -- which is the only viable strategy in the absence of enough tests to test everyone and isolate only those infected. So now I have to get a little personal about this. You see, I'm having flashbacks.
I lived through the early years of the AIDS pandemic in the gay communities of L.A. and, starting in the early nineties, San Francisco. There was a stretch of several years when I was burying roughly a friend a month. It's a period I don't think about much because, even after more then a quarter century, it's just too painful.
And now -- albeit with different details -- I'm seeing history repeat itself: The indifference, the ineptitude, the cowardice, the greed, the politics getting in the way of public health. For god's sake, follow public health advice, and if you live in a place where the local elected leaders aren't taking this seriously, scream bloody murder until they do.
I've seen this movie before. Most of the characters you care about die before it ends.

Totally agree with you Bruce! These idiots out on the beaches for Spring Break are morons!
My 89 year old mother hasn't been out of the house for over a week. She used to drive herself to church and would get groceries. Now I go out with my hand sanitizer and gloves to Kroger and WalMart for food. Haven't even had fast food or take out since last month! Our pharmacy is in Kroger so don't have to go anywhere else. I'm a homebody anyway, so this doesn't bother me at all. I watch stuff on the DVR and I have tons of books I could read.
Right now they're having a virtual Fest For Beatles Fans on Facebook. You don't have to watch live. Go to virtual fest for beatles fans #letitbeatlefest on FB. Click on the Discussion button to scroll through the various posts/performances/interviews, etc.

And now my all-time favorite songwriter who wasn't a Beatle, John Prine, is hospitalized in critical condition with COVID-19. I want to scream.
