I finally got my second shot!! Yay!!!
Which one did you get?
Moderna! I planned on staying in bed for 2 days, just slept the first day and watched TV the entire second day binge watching a couple of series. Now the red and itchy patch on my arm is finally gone! Feeling almost 95% safer. Took a trip to see my family whom I haven’t seen since July 4

Good to hear that you didn't have any adverse side effects.

My son (age 34) is getting his 1st Pfizer Covid vaccine tomorrow and 2nd on May 21st. I'm so happy! We're going to an indoor concert of a Beatles tribute band in a small theater on June 5th. It was postponed from 2020 and we have front row seats!

I just got my vaccination card laminated for free at Office Depot and put it with my passport. I'm sure I'll need it next March in order to take the Flower Power cruise!
I heard that you shouldn't get them laminated just yet because it may need to be updated.
Just got an article about NOT laminating your card yet from AARP. https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2021/vaccine-card-safety.html?cmp=EMC-DSO-NLC-WBLTR---MCTRL-043021-F1-5428284&ET_CID=5428284&ET_RID=28096835&encparam=Vj5DpfWBmqfnLSj/VI0mBpIlEBSpmUIYPNmf9y8vomk=
You should keep the card, which bears your name, date of birth, vaccine type and vaccination date, in a safe place. You may need it in the future. You should also take a photo of the card as a backup, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises.
Here's what you shouldn't do with your vaccine card: Laminate it.

Yeah, yeah...I saw that today. I did take a photo of it. Also, the article did say if you had already laminated it, you could still get a new card when you get a booster.
"If you have already laminated your vaccine card, don't panic. Some big-box stores have been promoting free lamination of COVID-19 vaccine cards — in an apparent bid to drive foot traffic. Should you need a COVID-19 booster in the future, you can ask for another paper record to prove it."

Yes, I know that you can get another. I know someone that lost their original & already needed to get a replacement.

When I got my last shot, the nurse was telling me people are stealing the cards and stealing the empty needles and filling them with water. Hope the get something more permanent, such as putting the info on your drivers license or ID card. It’s more official.

What the heck are they doing - going around and offering free shots on the street corner? (I actually saw this on the news) Why would anyone do this? They must be selling the bogus shots and cards to unsuspecting people.

CA's positivity rate is down to 1.1% now and they are talking about doing away with our tier system for opening things as of June 15th! Let's hope we can keep it up and get to that point!

I passed two weeks since my second (Moderna) shot last Friday and have even ventured out a couple times without a mask. Inching toward normality!
I don't remember if I mentioned it, but that second shot did knock me on my a** for about a day. -- fever, incredible fatigue, achy all over. I just wanted to curl up in a ball. It hit about 20 hours after the shot and lasted about 24 hours, but then -- bang! Almost instantly I felt okay again and life goes on,

Glad you recovered. Most of the severe reactions seem to have been with the Moderna second shot.

Well, we have to wait until May 31st to see if the U.K. makes the U.S. a Green country. Last night I finally got ahold of Delta on the 3rd night of being on hold for 4+ hours they finally answered! Changed our return flight to nonstop from Manchester to Atlanta. Before we had to fly into JFK and have 3 hour layover, arriving at 11pm in Atlanta. The other flight wasn't available when I first booked. Now we leave at 12:05pm and arrive at 4:25pm. If the U.S. is not made green by August, we can cancel and get all Sky Miles points and money paid for taxes, etc. refunded. (The U.K. re-evaluates every 2 weeks starting May 17th)
P.S. In case you're wondering, they would not let me modify the flight online or on their app for some reason.

** There are different States / rules and restrictions / Countries too.
Has anyone gone to a public place or small gathering without a mask on?
It can feel weird - and it wasn't that long ago when you mostly didn't think about it at all. -

It can feel weird - and it wasn't that long ago when you mostly didn't think about it at all.My mom and I and 2 friends (we're all fully vaccinated) just had dinner tonight at my favorite Italian restaurant. We wore masks in, but took them off as soon as we sat down. A couple of the employees, including our server, didn't have a mask on. I assume management allows those who are vaccinated to leave them off if they want to.

My granddaughter got RSV from daycare https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/respiratory-syncytial-virus/symptoms-causes/syc-20353098 and infected my daughter, son-in-law, and his mother. His work made him get a Covid test - it was negative. He is the only one who has refused to be vaccinated! They took her out of daycare and are now trying to find a nanny. Told my daughter - you want the nanny vaccinated and I'm sure she'll want you both vaccinated, so he needs to get the damn shots! You can walk in to any Walgreens now and get it! No appointment necessary! Sorry for the rant, but he makes me SO mad!! 🤬

Thankfully in my state people are still wearing masks which are required in most places. I feel better wearing a mask. The flu was almost non existent this year from wearing masks.
I am now going out to as many places as I did pre Covid19. Loving having the vaccine and feel so much safer. Glad I don’t live in a state like Texas or Florida, where they got rid of masks too early!! Just so anti Science, don’t think I’ll even visit those states again, unless they are under better management.
Anyhow, I’m out making up for lost time.

I think my son-in-law's employer is going to "make" him get the Covid shot. Otherwise they will tell him he has to get 2 or 3 Covid tests a week! Just like when I was a nurse, everyone had to be tested for TB yearly and get a flu shot. Only if you were allergic could you get out of the TB test, and if you refused the flu shot you had to wear a mask everywhere (except eating) from Oct. to March or something! This was every hospital employee, not just nurses.
P.S. They got a nanny with good references who starts Monday!

Hope she doesn’t mind my mentioning, however, I did finally hear from Suzy Loves Paul! Hopefully, she will be posting here again soon. Just glad to hear she’s OK!
