Play it yourself Beatles songs
-
I've taught myself piano over the last six years, and naturally I play a lot of Beatles songs (among hundreds of others). Some songs are very complex, some straightforward. When you start to play songs you already know (or think you know), you gain a new respect for the art, craft and inspiration of the popular song. I found this was particularly true when approaching the Great American Songbook of the 1920s to the 1950s, but also with Beatles songs. George Martin's musical influence is more apparent on the later songs - they learned so much from him. I love playing Something, And I love her, Julia, Things we said today, Here there and everywhere, You like me too much and In my life particularly - they're so beautifully constructed.
