it's very rare that he calls people up at all...He sees probably 5-10 signs a show about it's my birthday, sign my this or that or I want to dance on stage....all pretty much played out but once a blue moon he feels the urge to pull someone up. However, it's usually someone young and attractive 90% of the time
At least 90% of the time !I was at one show with a soundcheck call up. I had a "Group Hug" sign...& they picked the girls out....poodforpaul was 1 of them ! Paul says "Time for the Group Hug !, I had the sign, but no Group Hug for me....guess I didn't fit the percentage ! Oh well,
Wow, you created the sign but didn't get a hug? SO unfair!
Yea, Brian Riddle came over & told us Paul likes your signs -we had 2 group hug signs -,but when they came & pointed out who was to go on stage( 4 or 5 ) ..I wasn't one of them We had so many people come up to us after & say how unfair it was. I thought I was finally going to get close up to him..but no, guess it wasn't meant to be
I'm sorry about that, too. That is one reason I am not a big fan of the whole calling-people-up thing. I am happy for the people who have been called up, but I think it gets people's hopes up and since he really doesn't do it all that often, I think it results in disappointment. I think so far on this US leg, the only people brought up at either a S.C. or the main show have been the couple in Albany with the proposal? Maybe he is done doing it.

At the Chicago sc, 2 little kids had signs, Shelley had them stand front & center. They held their signs up as high as they could & for the longest time...I don't think he ever noticed them....

I hate people using little kids. : I saw them too. They weren't in the least bit interested. Maybe a bit too young?

I don't recall him ever doing it in 1976, 1989-90, 1993. Maybe in 2002? I don't know. By 2005 he started to do it. Again, not my favorite thing, but as was pointed out to me, it's his stage, he can do what he wants there!
I have never seen him do it at any concert and I am glad. I just look at these people as trying to be part of the show instead of enjoying it. Like you said, Mr. McCartney can do whatever he wants - lol.

Andy Warhol was right! Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes! He just forgot to tell us what to write on our signs!!

My sign made it up to the stage ! LOL. The girl next to me got picked & she thought she picked up her sign & took mine up instead.so when I see pics of that day, I see my sign there .lol. Back to the signs in general, It's really hard to think of anything original anymore. I think he's seen it all by now...

I wonder who's sign it would have been if Paul had autographed it? LOL. Something to think about.
-
Ha Ha, Thank God he gave everyone a group hug !

I have been present when people have been called on stage. I really don't like it and I hope the tattoo thing has run it's course. At the Lincoln sound check, Paul didn't even acknowledge the signs. He didn't tell his sign story during the concert either.

Is he interacting with the S.C. crowd at all since the U.S. leg of the tour?

I made a sign for the Albany show that welcomed Paul back and..."please do On My Way To Work"...which he did at soundcheck as well as the show that evening. I'd say yes.
-
Okay, that sounds promising. I'm still working out what to put on my sign.

I'm wondering how far back Paul can read the signs. I'm in row 24 for Candlestick but want to bring a sign, but not sure if it will be worth it or not. I had one in DC last year but I was in row 7, so he saw it of course. I was careful about only holding it up quickly in-between songs though, not during songs as to not annoy those behind me.

I'd definitely bring a sign. He reads them at soundcheck which I'd say is about 40 rows away. Good luck!
-
Amazing that his eyesight is still so good to see 40 rows away!
-
could be contacts.

Thanks DrivinFan, I'll give it a go!

I have some doubts that Paul actually reads some of the signs. I think his people out on the floor read some of them, and send the info to Paul via the teleprompter, as they probably do for the people chosen to be brought up on stage. I've noticed Paul using the teleprompter quite often. So, if you see some of his people while you are in the audience, I would try to get their attention. However he gets the message, good luck!
