Yes, very true. But it also created a huge demand for tickets when he did go back on the road. A break from gigs will do ticket sales in some markets some good. In the meantime, McCartney should play markets he has never played or has not played in years or even decades. Like Albuquerque, Austin, Tucson, San Diego, Australia, Japan, etc. And give South America and New York City a rest!!!
Or how about just smaller venues or just ONE show at a place like Horsens, not TWO. I still don't get it why he cancelled both shows. Why not just one and let the people from the second gig go to the first one as long as there are enough seats. Or if he sold 20.000 tickets for the first show with a capacity of 30.0o0 people and maybe 15.000 for the second show, why not let 10.000 with tickets for the second show go to the first show and the other 5000 maybe can't even come (due to time, work, flight etc.) or will get their money back?
Yeah, it is strange two shows were on the books before tickets even went on sale. Artists to block out dates IN CASE a second show may be added. But I am hearing the first show was not completely sold out and a second was put on sale. This is not Paul's fault, but the promoter's and management.

I'd like to believe that, really!!! But I can't really imagine that Paul doesn't have the power to tell those people that he can't let all these people down and that they have to do something about this. Like for example, as mentioned in my previous post, just cancel ONE show. But we can't know how it really was, just speculations all the time.
-
If Paul is willing to sign 30,000+ autographs to those who bought tickets, I'm sure they will not request a refund.
-
ha! that'll be the day.

I agree. What I meant was Paul does not sit down and map out concerts with all the finances and promotion and such. But I agree, it IS run by him for his approval.

people soon forget what a disaster his stadium tour of the UK was in 2010...huge sections of tickets were left unsold or massively reduced at hampden and cardiff. all that and YOKO wasnt playing live on stage with him . unfortunately the reason mccartney is venturing in new territories is because he has oversold his live brand...hes still special, but not as special as he once was.....a huge break from touring would do him the world of good in many ways...
Good point. I suspect Denmark can sell tickets as well as anywhere. But McCartney just did a swing through northern Europe late 2011, so demand may be a bit low right now. One reason he may be staying away from the USA in 2012. In 1993, his tour was KILLER as a stage show, but even then, three years after his comeback tour, ticket sales were soft in many markets. He didn't tour for another nine years. I do understand Linda also fell ill during that time. I also think this strategy, of doing a few shows here, a few shows there, takes away from the WOW factor of McCartney touring. It seems like he has been on the road since 2009 (he has!) and, even though we all know his tour changes names, the average concert goer does not, nor do they care. They just figure, "He plays all the time. I'll catch him another time."
The reasons he didn't tour for 9 years after 1993 were he was too involved with Beatles Anthology, then Linda got sick and died and the grief kicked in.

He will always sell out in the east coast of the USA no matter how many times or how close together the shows are.

No way! He must return next year! His concerts here always sell out. In fact, there are negotiations going on about it already, between MPL Tours and Planmusic, which is the company that brought him to Brazil in 2010/2011/2012.

I can live with him playing NYC but he seems to ALWAYS be playing South America. I'd give SA - and it's overly enthusiastic fans - miss for a good few years from now on.

Why? All concerts sell out in here! ALL!!!! And we're talking very big stadiums here, not some shitty 20k seat venue in Vegas.

Come back to Atlanta Paul! You always sell out here!
55,000 in attendance the last time.
90.000 in Buenos Aires in Nov 2010. We win

Perhaps people might agree with you if you weren't so damn rude. Shitty 20k seaters? It's not a contest. Plus I personally think smaller venues are better. We have an 80k seater in Ireland and I wouldn't go to a concert there even if Paul was playing.

Agreed. The smalled the venue the better! And a rude South American? Thats refreshing...! :

I know the feeling...the U.S. got more than its share of Macca-concerts in the last decade.

But he's already been to Atlanta!
Yeah but not a proper indoor arena concert since 2005 (which I missed!)

I feel very badly for the people who have purchased tickets and made travel plans. Certainly people must realize that Paul has had fans who follow him around since the days of the Beatles. They are incurring a financial loss because of this. I have planned trips around Paul concerts. Many trips. I have been lucky that I haven't taken a financial hit by Paul canceling. I have pretty much determined for myself that I am no longer going to stadium shows. I will only be attending indoor arena shows. I don't do well in heat and humidity and you have to buy one of the expensive tickets to actually see Paul with your own eyes. I think the decision to cancel these two concerts is a combination of his voice and his check book. He isn't willing to take a hit to his check book, but screw the fans.

Well, there are those who get theArgentinean sense of humor and those that don't (like you, Sir). I was just explaining the person who said "Paul shouldn't go to South America again" why he shoould, that's all. Maybe you should read the text I quoted before calling me rude?

Agree - South America has had it's fair share of concerts. The UK should get more (obviously, I would say that) but also European countries and I know the Australians would love a few shows too.
-
Well, I'm not agree...if Paul love to play here in SA, he will come back...and I know he will do it

No, you were pretty rude. Humor usually works if BOTH parties are laughing. Just a hint... Oh, and the person you just responded to is a female, not a male.
