Paul, 30/06 AND 01/07 Horsens, Denmark - POSTPONED
-
Well Paul, if you need a smaller place to play at next time you plan a gig in Denmark, you are STILL welcome in my living room.

people soon forget what a disaster his stadium tour of the UK was in 2010...huge sections of tickets were left unsold or massively reduced at hampden and cardiff. all that and YOKO wasnt playing live on stage with him . unfortunately the reason mccartney is venturing in new territories is because he has oversold his live brand...hes still special, but not as special as he once was.....a huge break from touring would do him the world of good in many ways...

Overexposure. Best to leave people wanting more again. That's why I think he won't tour again until 2013. He probably should have taken this whole year off.

well said again michelley. infact you have surprised me these last couple of weeks with some really excellent views on the current macca situation.....well done for shaking off some of your stardust and telling things how they are. we all completely love the man,its just makes the relationship far healthier if you can comment warts and all without being labelled an anti-fan ...... i know there is no bigger mccartney fan than you and you can still be critical which is a good thing . well done

Good point. I suspect Denmark can sell tickets as well as anywhere. But McCartney just did a swing through northern Europe late 2011, so demand may be a bit low right now. One reason he may be staying away from the USA in 2012. In 1993, his tour was KILLER as a stage show, but even then, three years after his comeback tour, ticket sales were soft in many markets. He didn't tour for another nine years. I do understand Linda also fell ill during that time. I also think this strategy, of doing a few shows here, a few shows there, takes away from the WOW factor of McCartney touring. It seems like he has been on the road since 2009 (he has!) and, even though we all know his tour changes names, the average concert goer does not, nor do they care. They just figure, "He plays all the time. I'll catch him another time."

Paul could still perform in cities he's never been too, right?

If he sells enough tickets there, yes.
-
I think it was a purely business and personal decision to postpone the shows. I'm sensing that a re-grouping is afoot.

are you hinting at something?

Vocal issues might be playing some part in all of this but at least he looks well if a little tired.

EVERYBODY looks tired at age 70!!

Yes.

Right! There are several cities in Brazil (such as mine) that he has never been to!

The reasons he didn't tour for 9 years after 1993 were he was too involved with Beatles Anthology, then Linda got sick and died and the grief kicked in.

Yes, very true. But it also created a huge demand for tickets when he did go back on the road. A break from gigs will do ticket sales in some markets some good. In the meantime, McCartney should play markets he has never played or has not played in years or even decades. Like Albuquerque, Austin, Tucson, San Diego, Australia, Japan, etc. And give South America and New York City a rest!!!

Or how about just smaller venues or just ONE show at a place like Horsens, not TWO. I still don't get it why he cancelled both shows. Why not just one and let the people from the second gig go to the first one as long as there are enough seats. Or if he sold 20.000 tickets for the first show with a capacity of 30.0o0 people and maybe 15.000 for the second show, why not let 10.000 with tickets for the second show go to the first show and the other 5000 maybe can't even come (due to time, work, flight etc.) or will get their money back?
