I wish! It's too expensive, I can't afford it.

Hundreds of fans were in line very early today to buy tickets. And it was hot! And there is already a large billboard sign advertising the concert. Hopefully the second concert (April 22) will be announced soon.

Did the shows sell out?

Did the shows sell out?
There are still tickets for sale, but I don't know in which sections of the stadiums. One of the reasons why tickets did not sell out as quickly as in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo is because plane tickets to Recife and Florianópolis are much more expensive. Also, the company that sells tickets online is not the same as in previous tours, and they are making it harder for students to buy tickets with 50% discount.

Students have gotten a 1/2 off discount for shows before?! I wish this happened in other countries...

I suspect it would just inflate prices for non-students.

There was no discount in Porto Alegre (2010) due to state law, but students got 50% discount for concert tickets at Paul's 2010 (São Paulo) and 2011 (Rio de Janeiro) concerts. If you bought your ticket online, you just had to select "student price" and show your student card when collecting the ticket. If you bought it in person, you just had to show your student card. Actually, there is still 50% discount this time, but it's more limited: 1) Recife - 50% in all sectors (standing or seating), but for online purchases first you must send a picture of your student card and wait for an e-mail with an authorization code, by which time there might not be tickets left for sale in that sector. If you buy the ticket in person, you just need to show your student card. b) Florianópolis - 50% in some sectors, but not for the one closest to the stage, and no online student discounts. If you want to pay half the price, you must buy your ticket in person at the stadium. Due to this policy there were many tickets unsold, so now it's also possible to purchase them at a few selected ticket booths in nearby cities.

Actually, it's the opposite: tickets were cheaper before, when it was easy to pay half the price. Now it's harder to do it, and ticket prices have increased. That's why there are still tickets available for the sector closest to the stage in Florianópolis.

I wish students in other countries were offered this same deal. It would help those poor students see Paul easier, but also affect Paul's ticket sales records in other countries as well. To think of the affect that deal would have on Paul's ticket sales records in the US and the UK. Wow!

If you see pictures of the long lines of fans waiting to enter the stadiums at Paul's Brazilian concerts, most of them are young people. Lots and lots of teenagers, and many children as well. That's because of the student discount, and it helps to spread Paul's music (and The Beatles' music) across younger generations. Those kids will surely trasure the memories of seeing a McCartney concert for the rest of their lives, and I'm sure that will affect their own children in a positive manner as well long after Paul is gone.

It's a very cool discount, for sure, for the reasons you mention. I just wish it was offered in other countries. Then you might see similar lines of students and photos as you posted for other shows, as well.

Yes, that certainly is a good thing.
