My friends became Rusty's fans, they have no choice! And some of them told me that they saw him at the show playing on guitar with Da Buss...

He was only in Russia last year with Paul.

Well, YoungGerl got to see last night what we'd kept under wraps - Brian and Abe sat in on the encore at Rusty's show, and it was a blast. Abe danced more than anyone during the entire show. The Roxy is a great venue, the sound is really good. Always nice seeing the lovely Brian as well. Rusty's band is brilliant; Matt, Tod and Dusty's backing vocals round out so well. Too bad you couldn't all be there, but it was a delight to see everyone who could make it!
-
YES! Thanks for posting, Corinne! That was a really great show, I think! Lucky those who were at the concert!!! WOW, Abe dancing, I'd love to see it!

That must have been some encore - wish I'd been there. YoungGerl, don't forget you promised some photos! Tell us all about it.

Hello all! I will be posting soon...I need to write this out in Word first. I started writing my report here (not in Word), and then my computer froze...luckily, 20 minutes later, for some reason it started working again, so I'm not taking any chances and I'll finish AND SAVE the report before I post it here. As a quick summary, I had a wonderful time, and even though I woke up this morning feeling like I had a hangover (and didn't have anything to drink last night!), I don't regret going for a second. I wish I could see them across the Pond! Off to write my report... Sharon

OK, first of all, I forgot to drop off my film at work today, so unfortunately I won't have pictures until the middle of next week. Sorry. The show was great, even if I was dead tired this morning (felt like I had a hangover when I woke up even though I didn't have anything to drink!) and am (hopefully temporarily) partially deaf. My left ear is still ringing. I arrived at the Roxy around 9:10 pm, having picked up my car immediately beforehand from the auto repair shop (had to get my brakes replaced - it was a sudden emergency the day before). I still have to get my tires replaced - going to do that tomorrow. This shows how much I wanted to get to this gig! Anyway, I paid my $11 (the website said it was $10...silly people) and went in. The sign at the box office said that Rusty wasn't due to come on until 9:55 p.m., so I had to see another band (called Wetbrain) before he came on. I didn't really pay much attention to the band, because I was too busy looking for Corinne, Martha, Rusty, Abe, Brian, and anyone else I knew. One thing about the Roxy made me a bit frustrated - they have booths that you can sit in, but you have to pay $25 per person to sit there! Granted, that includes a drink and food, but STILL! Needless to say, I didn't get a booth, which turned out to be a better decision anyway because this way I stayed on the "dance floor" and was near the front of the stage and could see Abe and Brian (they were somewhere behind me, probably 4 rows or so) and Martha and Corinne. Anyway, as I was half-watching the band before Rusty, Chris Carter (DJ of Breakfast with the Beatles...he's also in the Back in the US DVD) walked past me a few times to go backstage and outside and wherever he was going. Rusty walked by me once or twice at some point too. Then, I saw Abe walk past me from the front door towards backstage, and I got a huge grin on my face. (I adore Abe.) I didn't say hi to him, because I didn't want to bother him, and a few minutes later he came from backstage and went towards the door again. Some other fans said hi to him, and he stopped, grinned and talked to them briefly, then continued towards the door. Eventually the other band ended its set, and many of the young people (there were a lot of young people there, which I guess I am one of them - I'm 24) left or went to go get drinks, and I found a good place near the front of the stage. A few people had cameras (at least two were more "professional", taking pictures with 2 different cameras during the show), and they found places too. As we were waiting, I kept looking around, and watched some fans as they noticed Abe in the crowd and got an autograph from him. He was grinning and happy with a couple of friends (maybe one was his brother?). I gathered up the courage to go over to him and asked him for his autograph. Of course, he smiled and said ?sure!? He signed ?Sharon, Rock On! Abe? (the same thing he signed for me in Seattle in October 2002 on my Driving Rain CD cover) with a little drawing of a bald head with a beard (this was new). Oh, I should say that he had a freshly shaved head and a goatee, and I think he was wearing all black. I don?t think I?ve ever seen him not wearing black?maybe with a white t-shirt, but nothing else. I babbled something about how I wished I could go to the shows in Europe and how I was at the Liverpool show last year and how great it was. I think he said that it was a phenomenal show and it was very emotional. After I said that I wanted to go to the Europe show, he said something like ?Don?t worry, we?ll be back?? (Yeah right, I thought, but smiled and nodded anyway?we?ll see. ) By then, the conversation had kind of run out of steam (what do I say to these amazing guys?), and he stood there smiling at me, and I knew it was time to go back to my place. I think I said ?Thank you? or ?Bye? and walked off. Later, as I was back in my spot again, I saw a blonde guy walking away from me toward the backstage door, and I thought ?That MUST be Brian.? He was wearing a black blazer with pinstripes (I think). Later Brian joined Abe and his two friends (males) a couple rows behind me. One of the photographers went over to them and got a picture of Brian and Abe grinning for the camera, and I think another fan did too. I didn?t have the courage to go over there to ask for a picture; maybe that?s one thing that I regret, but I don?t regret it very much. Just as someone finished photographing Brian and Abe, the lights dimmed and everyone started cheering. Abe (possibly Brian too, but I was facing forward and couldn?t see them) cheered loudly, and the curtains came up. Chris Carter introduced Rusty, and Rusty and the band launched into their show. I think the setlist was the same as Spaceland. Corinne, can you confirm that? A couple songs into the set, I looked around and saw Martha and Corinne about 10 feet away from me; I joined them about halfway through the set. Oh, as for the picture situation?unfortunately, I didn?t have time (and I didn?t really think to do it) to buy extra film, so I only had about 15 pictures available on my camera (the first 9 pictures or so were from Rusty?s gig at Spaceland!), so I had to take pictures sparingly, which was very difficult. I was quite close to Rusty this time, so the pictures should come out better than the Spaceland shows, but we?ll see. My camera is getting old and seems to be getting slower and slower. Oh, and before I forget ? I can definitely confirm that Rusty does the screams during the songs (I think the loudest one is during Devil?s Spaceship?). The show lasted from about 9:55 p.m. until 10:55 p.m. (Hey, at this time last night he was just ending his show). The curtain came down and everyone cheered and called for an encore (which the previous band hadn?t done), and I looked behind me and saw that Brian and Abe were gone?Corinne said to me ?This was the surprise that we couldn?t tell you about?? Then the curtain came up and Brian and Abe were on stage! Brian played acoustic guitar and Abe was on the drums (of course). Now, no offense to Rusty?s drummer, but during the whole show I was watching Rusty?s drummer and imagining how Abe would be playing. I?ve never seen any drummer play with as much emotion as Abe. Then, during the encore, Abe actually played! I got one picture of the 3 of them on stage - I really hope it comes out. (I had to limit my pictures, in case Abe, Brian, and Rusty took a bow together...which unfortunately they didn't...or in case I got a picture with them later...which I didn't.) It was so great to see Rusty singing and Brian and Abe playing with the rest of the band?it made me think of the last time I saw them, which was at the Liverpool show. After the show I chatted with Martha, Corinne, and a few of the other fans, wandered around and outside the Roxy trying to look for Brian, and eventually left about an hour later. So that?s my report?I may add things later as I remember them. Sorry it?s so long. I?ll let you know when my pictures come in. Who knows, if they?re good enough they might show up on Rusty?s site! My ears are still ringing? Sharon

OMG Sharon!!!! That's a fantastic report. Don't apologise for it being so long; I could read about these guys forever! Abe sounds like a true gentleman. It's a pity you didn't get to meet Brian, but I don't think I'd have been brave enough to go over to him either. If I remember correctly, you got Rusty's autograph at one of the other shows, didn't you? I hope your photos turn out ok this time.

Thanks a lot, Sharon. It was a very interesting and entertaining report from you, as always. I'm glad that you met your adorable Abe at the concert, as for me, I can't imagine a meeting with Rusty, Brian and Abe, it should be great, I think! I'd like to se Brian and Abe cheering the band and, of course, encore!!! And we'll hope that your camera won't let us down, so - fingers crossed!! Thanks again!
