International Beatles Fest

With the USA still on the amber list requiring pre departure tesing and day 2 and 8 testing upon arrival in the UK coupled with 10 days of quarantine I am quickly losng confdence that I will be able to attend the Fest in Liverool. What are boardies in the UK hearing? I know the Labour party is pushing for the abolisment of the amber coutry list. It also appears there has been a slight uptick in UK variant cases again meaning the loosening of restrictions for later in June may be in jeopardy. Sorry to seem so negative. Any postive news is welcome!

I read an article where the journalist said ge would be "highly surprised" if the U.S. wasn't made a Green country no later than July. We too cannot go if this doesn't happen before our Aug. 20th flight.
P.S. The U.K. just downgraded Portugal from Green to Amber, so it goes both ways!

Just added something to last post but time ran out and it disappeared!!🤬
Go to gov.uk. Must create account/passenger locator form:
Write dates like British: 24 11 2021
No dashes in telephone numbers.
Last part can only be filled out 48 hours before departure.
You also need to download, print & sign Passenger Disclosure and Attestation to the USA form (from the CDC - Google it) that you received negative Covid test prior to departure from U.K. (to be presented when you return to U.S.)
What an effing hassle!

The UK has delayed reopening now until 19 July. It really doesn't look good for the Fest at this point.

I know, I just heard today. As long as Beatleweek doesn't cancel and they make the U.S. Green (and other countries) we can still go if the reopening is no later than Aug. 16th. Have only 72 hours or more prior to flight to change or cancel it. We might end up flying to Manchester on the evening of the 24th or 25th, doing Liverpool, then go to London on Sept. 1st (reverse the cities) We are right now scheduled to fly to London Aug. 20th in the evening, arriving Aug. 21st at 11am.
The hotels only need a day or 2 notice for free cancellation if necessary. It might be hard to get an extra night in Liverpool, though (Aug. 25th) As of the moment, we check in Aug. 26th and check out Sept. 1st.
It's definitely a real clusterf**k!
OT, but I have a son named Kevin. Some of you may remember a TV show on here called Kevin Can Wait. Well now, believe it or not, there is a show coming on AMC called Kevin Can Go F**k Himself! Insane!

Yesterday, 24 June, the US was once again left off the UK green list...remaining on the amber list! I guess we have to wait another 3 weeks! This is going to be cutting it very close for those of us with plans for the Fest...Especially when there are other places we COULD travel if given time to make alternate arrangements!
At this time I really feel the Fest should be canceled given the rapid rise in cases in the UK. I don't know how long they can wait to make a decision.

I know! We are going nuts waiting! The U.S. is doing better than the U.K with number of daily cases/deaths! (per capita - per every 100,000 people, I mean)
I wish they would just cancel it too, then I wouldn't feel so bad about not being able to go if the U.S. remains Amber. I sent them an email last week and they said they are still going to proceed. Charles Rosenay has canceled his Liverpool Productions Magical History Tour for 2021. We bought Gold Anthology Package and Mark McGann tickets through him which he will roll over to 2022 (again!) if we can't go.

Nancy R, who did you e-mail? I have sent 3 over the last few weeks and never get a reply. At this point I would prefer to just take a refund and move on.

That's the one I've been using with no response!

Strange! I've written them a couple times over the past year and they answered pretty quickly.
Do you have a landline or just a cellphone? I have AT&T U-verse landline and they only charge me 14 cents per minute to call the U.K. I called the Royal Mail about my missing order - 7 minute call was 98 cents! Call your provider and see what the charge would be to call.

Latest word today is that the US is not on the list of countries potentially being considered for the Green list later this month on 19 July! I think this is all a political game now. Since the US still doesn't allow UK visitors, and rightly so seeing the UK appears to be an incubator for variants and a high infection rate, the UK responds in kind even though the US is currently doing much better. Actually it is not safe to visit the UK now so I am canceling my trip even if I have to eat the cost of my Gold package. I was really hoping the UK would have a better handle on things by now.

I'm not too optimistic, but will wait until July 19th. Fortunately, we got our Gold Package & Mark McGann tickets through Charles Rosenay's Liverpool Productions and he will either refund or roll them over to 2022. You should be able to get a refund from international beatleweek.com.
P.S. I also read that another decision might be made on Aug. 1st.

Strange...Had contacted them for refund multiple times with no response. Today I checked my CC statement and a refund had been issued 2 weeks ago. Absolutely no acknowledgement from the Cavern Club/Fest! So they are giving refunds to those who won't be able to travel due to Covid restrictions...I guess you just have to keep at it! All I'm out is the train ticket from London to Liverpool.
An aside...daily Covid cases in the UK are almost close to their all time high from back in January.

I know! The U.K. is WAY up!
Why can't you get your money back on the train ticket?

Avanti West Coast trains (I believe they used to be Virgin Trains) discounted advance ticket purchases are non-refundable and only giving e-vouchers good for 1 year. It wasn't that much and hopefully I'll be able to use it eventually. Oh, and I should add that Avanti trains are aparently part of Trenitalia....that's where the credit card charge came from...and I think we all remeber what a cluster f$%k dealing with Italian businesses was like trying to get refunds from summer 2020!!

I used trainline.com to book our train from Liverpool to Manchester in 2016. Worked out great - just showed the tickets off my iPad email. (I think I booked the tickets just a couple days beforehand)

I just ordered some of the Paul stamps on EBay. One set was postmarked and shipped from England. Not sure when I’m going to get there, so I ordered them online, got 3 different sets!

Last time I talked to the Royal Mail about my missing PM Bundle was July 7th. On the 21st received an email from them saying it had been "despatched." ("mailed"to us Yanks!) Took 2 WEEKS to get it out?! It better arrive in less than 10 days!
(the other part did)
P.S. Am on phone with Delta cancelling plane tickets and getting Delta Sky Miles + taxes $ refunded on Amex. Only had to stay on hold 2.5 hours, then she transferred me eventually (went almost directly through) to a different customer service rep. Have been on the line for over 1/2 hour total now. He's trying to figure out how to just refund me a $46.60 credit voucher which was initially supposed to be refunded on my Amex! (long story) Points (Sky Miles) are already back in my account (checked delta.com) but credit of taxes on this flight ($338.90 for the 2 tickets) has not gone through yet.
Next will easily cancel hotels in London and Liverpool online (free cancellation)

I know, what a hassle. On the bright side, the Stones released their Fall US tour rescheduled dates today from last summer!
