"Out There" 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions

For some reason I thought it was 8:30, but I stand corrected. 9:30 seems rather late, but guess different places have different start times.

Some nice additions but still FAR too Beatles heavy. Especially the second half. Great start, disappointing finish.

Have to agree with you there.

He only did a handful of new songs, and while they were great additions the set is still FAR too Beatles heavy and the second half is interminable. If it wasn't for Hi Hi Hi and Lovely Rita you may as well leave half way through. Pity, the show started so promisingly. AND too many songs that are more Johns: Eight Days a Week, Mr Kite, Day Tripper... And don't get me started in the ridiculous length of time Here Today has been in the set...

I don't know why he would do any Beatles...I mean god forbid..

I LOVE ANYTHING THAT PAUL DOES, BUT DOES HE HATE SILLY LOVE SONGS SO MUCH THAT HE WILL NEVER PERFORM IT!!! Wings 1974 Madison Square Garden 2005 (2 nights) Citifield 2009 (2 nights) Yankee Stadium 2011 (Sound Check -Yeah!!) Barclays Center 2013-BOTH NIGHTS CAN'T WAIT!!!!! 2015? Please Please Me!!!!!!! Here There and Everywhere!!!
-
The new songs that he added should be a sign for the future that Paul will be mixing things up on future tours! He really must be listening to us fans on what to play, I bet in future tours he will be playing other songs you haven't heard before! Cheers!

I know. It's a shocker, isn't it? It's a great set list. But it's only the first show of the tour. He's not going to give away every surprise on the first night. There will be more, I think. I would like him to do a few John songs like Dear Prudence. Why should he just stick to the ones he wrote when there are many he co-wrote and contributed quite a bit, too. Mix it up, I say! Most people at Paul's shows, I think, have either never seen him in concert before or only seen him once and they want to hear the Beatles classics. So he's riding a very difficult line of trying to please those fans plus all the long-term Macca fans. I have only seen Paul live once. I just compared Paul's set list last night to the set list at the show I saw in 2009. I'll be hearing a whopping 19 songs that are different from the ones he played in 2009!!!!!! Can. Not. Wait.

Not at all, actually. This is it. He may alternate 2 or 3 songs in cities where he's playing two shows. But this is the setlist he will play nightly. There WON'T be more surprises. But I'm fine with it.

Well I guess we'll have to wait and see. Unless you're really Paul posting on here and have the inside scoop. Whatever happens I'll be hearing 19 songs I've never heard live before. I can't complain.

Paul's not Pearl Jam. He picks a set, and basically sticks to it for the entire tour.... other than those aforementioned 2 or 3 song swaps for cities with 2nd shows. I don't have any inside scoop. But if you are a follower of his shows, you should know this.
