While Inspite of all the Danger is obscure (and believe me I'd rather he play something else) at least he can introduce it as a song that he wrote with George Harrison. That's probably how he justifies it and can get away with it. There are certain solo songs he could add, like Hope Of Deliverance (at least in Europe and South America), Tug Of War, This One and My Brave Face, but stuff like Smile Away, Big Barn Bed, The Mess and Getting Closer? Nope. Nobody knows those except us hardcore fans. I would love to see him perform more solo material (I'm a bigger fan of his solo career than the Beatles) but it's simply never going to happen. Most of his fans wouldn't care to see a show like that and Paul wouldn't risk it.
When did it become a risk for McCartney to play McCartney songs at a McCartney concert? What, exactly, is at risk? Is he afraid concert goers will leave saying " I can't believe he played a bunch of McCartney songs"?
My understanding from interviews is that he simply plays songs that he enjoys playing, and he mixes it up when he feels like doing so. I think it's really that simple; no reason to over think it really. And IMHO any Paul McCartney fan is a hard core fan at this point; ditto if you're going to see Shatner in May in NoCal. These men don't have to tour, they want to because they enjoy it. Just having played the first recorded song during the little mini-center-stage-set was AMAZING. That's pretty obscure; the husband aka " he of encyclopedic knowledge" sang the first line while Paul was explaining what they were going to play. Pretty awesomely obscure and hard core. c-
" My understanding from interviews is that he simply plays songs that he enjoys playing, and he mixes it up when he feels like doing so. I think it's really that simple; no reason to over think it really. " From interviews I have read, it appears his biggest worry is crowd reaction to each song. It seems to me if crowd does not go "crazy" for a song especially a non-Beatle song it will not last long.

Do we know whole Portland setlist? Or is this just Fresno set?
The same as Fresno
I am shocked - lol !!
Glad I skipped Periscope'ing last night's gig.

On every video I have seen from Fresno and Portland, his voice is shaky, even feeble on higher notes. That's to be expected, it comes with age. It's not realistic to think his voice will regain the vigor of 2005 or 2002. I suspect people go see him now more to see a living Beatle than to see Paul McCartney perform.

Sad to hear that about his voice, I have been afraid of this for years. I don't want him to become laughing stock and performing too long.

No one seems to care or mention it in reviews. Maybe it is less obvious if you are at the show. I watched Here There and Everywhere at Fresno, the key change helped, but still, on the high notes, very wobbly. Maybe his voice will get stronger as the tour progresses.

Age is not as big of a factor as you might think. I think smoking marijuana for many years is the true culprit. It has done irreparable damage to Paul McCartney's voice. There are many singers in Macca's peer group who still sound like they did 30+ years ago: -Daryl Hall (will be 70 on his next birthday) -Sammy Hagar (68 years old -- sounds phenomenal!!) -Stevie Nicks (68 years old) -Tina Turner (76 years old)

See quote below from newspaper in Portland. "McCartney's voice, once unblemished gold, has aged into something sometimes more coppery. "

I agree (lol) but the problem is convincing Mr. McCartney.

It'd be great if Paul did what The Rolling Stones have been doing lately: either give a list of songs for fans to vote their favourite or let fans alone vote a song they'd love to hear him singing! it'd be sooooo exciting !!!!!!

Setlist watch ain't what it used to be, eh?

In terms of content, nope! But this Persicope thing is a cool app. Almost like being at the show! Too bad most of us had already seen this new show ... three years ago.

How about stuff he has written in the last 20 years?
-
Wait... Paul McCartney has written something since "Here Today"?
-
ops: yes but you will never hear them live. It really is a shame. Serious.

Curious, when has Tina performed recently? I thought she retired years ago?

Periscope is an app that allows its users to broadcast events like concerts live so that other people who are not there can see them.

Add Billy Joel to that list. For me, I haven't seen Paul since 2014. There are 11 songs in this current setlist that I haven't heard yet, so I'm excited. Yes, I am a little irked that there were virtually NO solo additions. That's a little weird. With a Little Luck could've went in place of Here There and Everywhere on the piano, and he could've done HT&E in the acoustic set. The second half could've used a big shake up. I always thought Girls School would make a rockin encore song. Deep cut or not, it would get the place going. This could very well be my last time seeing him, so I'm going to savor it. I'll likely still have 6-7 more years of Bruce Springsteen shows, 20 years of U2 shows, a few more of Billy Joel (the residency is 30 mins from my house). But Paul, this could be it. On a visual level though, the show is spectacular. I think Out There was a massive shakeup because Paul rebounded from On the Run (which had minimal effects, boring setlists) with a new show with tons of new songs, and LED stage, lasers.... Out There and On the Run were two totally different shows. One on One is a slightly more modern Out There with a few shakeups. Regardless, I'm excited to see him, dreading this week of ticket sales. Hopefully luck will be in my favor.
