[..] Maybe one day when you are in the biggest and most celebrated band the world has ever known, you will realise that other things you have achieved have to take a back seat because of that. Imagine watching a 'neil armstrong' interview and him just talking about the 1970s/1980s 1990s?........The folks turning up at these modern day paul mccartney concerts are getting exactly what they want and have paid big money for I really wish people on here would give it a rest and accept him for the marvel that he is. :
No need to be so defensive. Like said, no one is saying it's a sub-par show. Or even saying he shouldn't serve the masses. Or saying he should only play obscure songs. If Neil Armstrong would have been the first man on Venus in the 70's, and the first man on Mars in the 80's, it would be strange if 80% of interviews with him were concentrating on his 60's achievements.
Yes but thats only in your head....in reality or back in reality he is known and admired the world over for the music he made in the 1960's. Sure he has made some fine music since then and sure he has been a popular artist in his own right. But 90% of the people that go to see him are wanting to hear 90% beatles songs.....sorry that upsets you but its a FACT
In mine and many, many, many other fans heads. His target audience. But if you like being spoon-fed and bow for the masses who are being kept ignorant due to the treatment of the solo-material by McCartney himself, you sure won't mind that from his 25-odd worldwide top 10 solo hits in the 20 real-life years after The Beatles, he only has 5 included in the current setlist.

Really appreciative, and I was in luck that I could catch many of these ones live, but let's be fair: from all these songs on the list, from all these songs, he only gave this list a proper (worldwide) outing: Junior's Farm Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet Ram On Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five Mrs. Vandebilt In Spite of All the Danger I Will The Night Before She's Leaving Home Two of Us I'm Looking Through You Getting Better Here, There and Everywhere And that is exactly the frustration of me and many other fans.

My standards are high, and I expect exceptional artists to maintain that exceptionalism -- not rest on laurels.

Dont' hate me, I love the man, but the setlist is a bit of a snoozer. I dont know why he has these rules it seems where he wont change things up a bit. Maybe I'm in the minority but I dont like the NEW album with the exception of a couple of songs. Definitely his weakest output IMHO since Off the Ground. But I understand he needs to promote it. Here's what I'd like to see: Eight Days a Week -Doesnt sound right without John. I Saw Her Standing There would be a perfect opener Save Us -Awful, but it aint going anywhere. All My Loving -Beaten to death, but acceptable Listen to What the Man Said -ZZZZZZZ- replace with Silly Love Songs Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady -Needs to go bye bye. How about the forgotten Cant Buy Me Love?!?!? Paperback Writer -Adios. Bring back Jet My Valentine -ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ- Anything but thos Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five -KEEP! The Long And Winding Road -ZZZZZZZZZZZZ- How about C'moon or Let em In, even. Maybe I'm Amazed -He's had trouble with this since 89. How about Hold Me Tight?? I've Just Seen a Face -Ok, but I'd prefer Hop of Deliverance We Can Work It Out-Ok Another Day -OK And I Love Her -Meh. How about Mother Natures son or Rocky Racoon Blackbird -Keep Here Today -Adios! NO MORE TRIBUTES! Put It There would be great! New -Keep Queenie Eye -Not my fave, but it aint going anywhere Lady Madonna -C ya. You Never Give ME Your $$ would be better All Together Now -Sayonara- Bring back Getting Better Lovely Rita --Fair at best Everybody Out There -Keep Eleanor Rigby -Time to dump it. Ever Present Past shoud take its spot! One After 909 -Nope. Two of US would be better Something -Sorry Georgie, but its gotta go. Replace with Follow Me Obladi Oblada -OK Band on the Run -OK Back in the U.S.S.R. -OK Let It Be -OK Live and Let Die -OK Hey Jude -duh Day Tripper. -OK Hi Hi Hi -OK -two girls on stage- Get Back -NO!! Throw a curve and stick in Lonely Road from the UNDERappreciated Driving Rain Yesterday. -OK Helter Skelter -Doesnt sound good live. Bring back Pepper Golden/Carry/The End-Cool What do you think. It would still be a VERY hit friendly show! Oh yeah, replace Mr Kite with Penny Lane.
"Are you trying to be funny here?......aparantly there where no complaints from the crowd last night...oh...where you there?.....thought not, probably tucked in by your mother at 9.30 pm with a cup of hot chocolate and some clean tissue for another nights surfing."

It's a new LEG! Not a new tour. Quit complaining you all know it's not going to change. Shows on a second leg hardly ever change. Plus this set was only used in six shows in Japan. C'mon really.. Be a little positive for a change really. Paul wants to play Beatles simply because the audience likes them therefore he's going to keep playing them. Plus they keep the tour reviews high. A lot of people complaining about many artists only playing solo hits and that, of course keeps their reviews in the negative category. I believe him keeping the Beatles songs in the set have sustained his position in the being a great artist. I don't know if you're following me.. I do wish people would clap for songs like LWTMS which was a huge hit..
Nah, if McCartney would have been a bit more proud and confident of the rest of his career, he would have been valued by the masses as solo artist on his own instead of ex-Beatle now. Also, nobody is saying he should not play 'Hey Jude' or 'Let It Be'. Just the endless minor Beatles songs for a whole tour long instead of big solo tunes isn't necessary.
Maybe one day when you are in the biggest and most celebrated band the world has ever known, you will realise that other things you have achieved have to take a back seat because of that. Is it me, or is this recurring set list discussion beginning to sound as familiar and unchanging as Paul's shows? Sure, I think he could easily change things up a bit while keeping the show heavy with Beatles and with familiar tunes, which he's convinced is what the masses want. I, for one, am relieved that he kept "My Valentine," which is a beautiful song that deserves to be heard.

If I did that, I would be a fawning sycophant. I ain't that. And as I repeat paying customer I have the right to criticise the merchandise. What some of the folks don't UNDERSTAND is it's BECAUSE we are, or have been lifelong fans and admire, or admired the guy, we feel if he challenged himself even more, he could be even GREATER. The argument that most concert-goers are first time or "oncers" doesn't wash. Not in the USA and South America where he has toured year after year...after year...after year...after year. And after year. I have travelled to Europe and USA (and Japan) each year to see him. I had planned to go again. I'm not leaving the country for this. Sorry. ...that is all.

Yes he has played the U.S. year after year but not always the same places during those years. Not everybody can afford to travel to other places to see him like others can even if they wanted to. I've been a fan of Paul's since I was a child but I wasn't able to see him live until 2010, so yes there are a lot of people here in the U.S. that are seeing him for the first time at each concert! There were many many times I wanted to go, but I couldn't at the time, due to circumstances such as money, life happenings, or concerts that were sold out. I've been fortunate that I have been able to travel a few times to see him here in the States since, but NOT everybody can.

Am I the only one who feels that time has come for Paul to do a different type of show? Instead of a 3 hour hit show with all songs in the original key, I think it would suit Paul better to have a smaller show, maybe half unplugged half piano tunes and then he could arrange all songs so that he is able to sing them..I'm imagining a Honey Pie style piano set, would be excellent..

Funny, just the other day I pulled out my setlist from the SJ show in the Driving Rain tour (2002) for a friend. Did a comparison with the reported setlist from the Uruguay show and got these results: 37 songs both shows 16 songs were the same 19 songs were different 2 songs were the same but different Golden/Carry/The End, he did only Carry and The End, but separately Let Me Roll It/Foxy Lady, he didn't do the Foxy Lady part at the 2002 show Comparing the Uruguay setlist with the one from Brooklyn last year, there are only 5 differences -- the added 4 songs from New plus One after 909 I guess the only point from this is that there have been some significant changes in his setlists over the last 10 years or so, but not much since last year...

Somebody on the Hoffman board delivered this telling fact - At Montevideo: 6 songs from the last 40 years (and 4 of them from his last album). Bewildering, by any measure.

I'm pretty sure he tours to give people want they want.If that is the figures then that is the figures. The stadium is full to see him play the beatles standards, you and many others on here seriously need to get over it. The man is pushing 72 not 42.His concerts are a celebration of the 1960s beatles times because that was his prime years. did anyone at the show complain? NO ......thought not

Im in the same boat ,ive been a fan for my whole life 38 years. and still havent been able to see Paul live. I too cant afford to fly to travel to any different countrys. So I can only hope he comes here to the Uk and then somewhere near me ,which put the chances of me seeing him as very low.I had tickets once Manchester 2011, but a very close family member sadly passed away so I couldnt attend. It would mean a lot to see Paul just the once, but the chanes all those factors coming together are very slim, however on the setlist question. I feel if I was able to get to see him I feel that feeling of finally getting to see him.,would mean all the songs were new for me ! the setlist would be great as it is.thanks for your time

OMGoodness...didn't realize that it was only 6 songs from the last 40 years. Yes, he was a Beatle...but he was also a Wing & also has a solo career.
