Bonnaroo Festival, Manchester TN, 14th June 2013 - ARCHIVE

That has crossed my mind. I wonder, though, what's so special about the VIP area. All I saw were rows of white tents, and the VIP section for the main stage was on a fenced-off hill to the side and quite far from the stage.
-
Maybe drinks, a/c, big screen tv, etc?
-
I think they have bathrooms and showers for VIP campers?
-
Booze is an encouraging factor. I assume that those particular accommodations are a step above the showers and port-o-potties for the general attendees.

Well, that sucks! There are different degrees of VIP, aren't there? With the "Rock Star" one you get an air conditioned trailer, drinks, etc.

I did VIP this year. We have closer camping to Centeroo (literally less than 2 minutes.) Air conditioned bathrooms with flushable porcelain toilets, Free showers, two air conditioned tents (with Drinks and a bar, games - like ping pong, jenga, a basketball hoop - free Ben and Jerry's, free fruit, ) Exclusive viewing areas for the What Stage, Which Stage, That Tent, The Other Tent, The Comedy Tent, The Cinema. We also had a Thursday night pre party with pretty good food (but I went to soundcheck instead.) We also received a complimentary t shirt and poster upon arrival. It is worth the price.

How close was the exclusive viewing area for the Paul concert? And how much was this all?

They only sell VIP tickets in pairs. That is $1,450, but once all the fees taxes are put in, it's about $750 a person. I was in the pit for Paul but this is a generic photo of the vip area. It is of slightly higher elevation than the rest of the field but the hill also includes a private Beverage stand and AC bathrooms.

That's a heckuva zoom lens. The VIP section is elevated, but it's not so close, people. Rod and I stood by the fence that separates the VIPs from the commoners earlier that day.

So the VIP section is actually farther away than the 'commoners?' I'm confused.

Yep! Farther. And to the side.

Well that sucks balls! Plus, you can't buy a single ticket!

But you get AC, showers, food, All good.

This is my view from the VIP mound for Tom Petty. It is higher than the GA field and you can actually get pretty close, but I was up too at the back near the drinks tent. And it looks much different in person.

Didn't checked the board for quite some time, but seriously, listen to this piano-riff during the Bonnaroo soundcheck:
If that isn't some hidden McCartney gem I don't know what is. -

It must be, the whole band is singing along in the harmony vocals! Catchy as hell, no? Sounding like a lost 1968-era McCartney jewel.

Going to bonnaroo for the 10th time was worth it just to hear Paul McCartney cover Midnight Special! I waited in the pit line on the stage right/crowd left side before Wilco got on stage and just made it into the pit. The fans in there were fantastic during McCartney's set! It was the closest I have ever been to see McCartney in the 13 times I have seen him live thus far. And the next day I started bonnaroo with Paul's son James McCartney which was a lot of fun to see the son the day after his father. James covered Neil Young's Old Man in his set.

Hi, All: Sorry for the delay, but here are a bunch of snippet clips from Macca's Soundcheck at Bonnaroo. Not the greatest quality, but you get the idea (sorry for my vocal on Midnight Special . What an absolute EXPERIENCE!!! Love it!
(really long 'director's' cut of our Bonnarroo trip....McCartney Soundcheck content starts at 9:18, and McCartney 'actual' concert content starts at 19:02). Enjoy! Steve
