Also, will he even touch on the solo years at all?
No, Mark has always made it clear that the third book will end when the Beatles broke up in 1970.
Wow! He must have a sheetload of material, sources.
The problem is that in order to cover the solo Beatles, he'd have to write about 47 years of Paul's career, 47 years of Ringo's, 10 years for John and 31 years for George . That's a grand total of 135 years of music and events to write about. And he's already taking forever to write the combined 115 Beatles years !!!

You forgot to mention all the detail he goes into on each of their ancestors (especially in the unabridged version - hundreds of more years!)

Yes,that's very true although thankfully there wasn't too many pages devoted to the ancestors.

Does anybody know if it will be released this year or next? Part 1 came out in 2013 FFS!
Part 2 is still on schedule for 2020 with part 3 presently set for 2028.
Someone should tell Mark there are inventions called book writing software & a laptop that are available these days.

Last night I was listening to a podcast (from last November) which featured a Q&A session with Mark Lewisohn and according to Mark its now unlikely that the second installment of Tune In will be completed in time for 2020. So we're now looking at 2021, possibly 2022.

That is ridiculous! In 2013 he said he was 40% done with part 2! Then it takes another 8 or 9 years?!

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), the publication of the first book brought in a lot of new leads that needed to be followed up and Mark did make a point of saying that he's not prepared to cut corners. It seems that its the ongoing research that is taking the time as he doesn't think he'll start writing the book for another year. Also, Vol 3 is going to be about 10 years away.
Here's the link to the podcast which is overall a very interesting listen.

Oh Goodness! 10 years for Vol 3? So in his time it'll probably be at least 15-20 years. HAHAHA!

Thanks Nancy. I can never get the link to be clickable whenever I post.

Now when you want it clickable just click on the little icon up there that looks like a link of a chain. Everything you do on this new board takes MORE steps than before. Now that's progress! Hey...maybe Mark is taking care of this place!

Thanks for the tip, I'm about to give it a try.
Hey,it works, thanks again.

You're welcome. Before when you'd type in a link it would automatically be a link. Now...not so much.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous that you can’t just copy and paste a link like before and it automatically is clickable! Too many hoops to jump through to post links and pics! ️

A little update. Mark Lewisohn took part in a Q&A session with an audience at the Adelphi hotel, Liverpool earlier in the week and he confirmed that part 2 of the trilogy (which may end up being 4 books incidentally) won't be published in 2020 and that he hasn't even started to write it yet but he hopes to soon.
He also mentioned, almost in passing, that someone is writing a book about all of Paul's recording sessions. That certainly sounds interesting.
Mark's Q&A session is available in three parts on YouTube and can be seen & heard here:

That is such BS! (I’m pissed at Mark, not you) Mark said, in 2013, that part 2 was 40% finished!! We’ll all be dead by the time he gets to part 4 (if he lives that long!) 🤬

I share your frustration Nancy, I'm so looking forward to this book and yet the wait goes on and on and on. I'm pretty confident that it will appear in 2021 now.
Interesting to hear Mark's comments about the time span being covered in each of his remaining books:
Book 2: 1st January 1963 - 31st December 1966 / Book 3: 1st January 1967 - 31st December 1970 / Book 4 (assuming he writes one) : 1st January 1971 - 31st December 1974.
If Book 2 does come out in 2021 ( eight years after volume 1) and he continues at his current speed then Book 3 should be out in 2029 and Book 4 in 2037. Hmmm...I might just be still kicking about by then !!
