New Paul Compilation for 2024
-
@b-j-conlee
If you look at the specific songs I've listed for the "Standard Edition" of "New Classics and Hidden Gems" (the 3Disc Compilation directly above) the key for the "Deluxe Edition" is to include 100 "no repeat" songs. Paul easily has that amount of good to very good songs in his Discography which is 2nd to none. In that way, big fans of Paul McCartney would buy both the Standard and Deluxe Editions.To me, that makes a strong case for doing the "Deluxe Edition" 6 months later. Because the "Standard Edition" Tracks are so good, you have a very strong "built in" audience to buy the Part 2 version of "New Classics and Hidden Gems".
I'm going to list these additional (No Repeat) songs for the Deluxe Edition. -

To Summarize, the Standard Edition of "New Classics And Hidden Gems" is a 3 CD Set. The Deluxe Edition, in my opinion , should be a 5 CD Set. One Key to the overall packages is that none of the songs from the 3 CD Package should be repeated in the 5 CD Package. In this way, the hard core McCartney fans would be highly motivated to buy both the "Standard Edition" and the subsequent "Deluxe Edition".
As I continue to do the 3rd, 4th and 5th Deluxe Discs, I will try to make sure I don't do any repeats from the initial 3 CD Standard Edition. If you notice in what I have done so far, I continue to include "Rare" tracks like "Live" versions, Paul Demos, great Paul songs only on Soundtrack Albums/CDs, Unreleased Songs etc etc This is what would make this future Compilation so special and different from past Compilation Efforts. -

On Track #12 (Distractions) of Disc 3 above, I inadvertently duplicated this Track because I had put it on the previous Disc 2.
A good replacement for "Distractions" would be:Waterspout
This track is still Unreleased. Waterspout, written during the London Town Sessions, was supposed to be included on the "All the Best" Compilation but it never happened.

I really like your song choices, always have! Thanks for your putting in the time. I would definitely purchase both releases. I would also hope they could be sold at concerts.
I’m sure I’m not the only person who buys the CD’s for sale when I go to a concert. Great job!! -

Thank you very much Love2Travel. It's after 10PM here tonight and I'm getting sleepy. I'll give you a more detailed reply tomorrow. Thanks again.

@b-j-conThanks again for your kind words Love 2Travel.
My best guess is that Paul McCartney will have a brand "New" Album released either by the end of this year or by the end of 2024. After that happens, I think it could be a better time for Paul to get serious about a Career Spanning Compilation probably sometime in 2025. Also looking at the potential Track Lists I have given on this Topic, Paul would definitely "need" acomprehensive and updated Compilation,

@b-j-conlee
On my last Disc (Disc 3 Deluxe Edition, 20 Tracks), I focused on Paul songs from his "Off the Ground" Sessions as well as his "Run Devil Run" Sessions. His voice at "Live" Shows during the 90's was top notch. I am highly recommending songs from his "Up Close" Concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC (1992) and his fabulous concerts at the "Live at the Cavern Club " and the PETA " Turn of the Century" Concert in LA (1999). For a new and comprehensive "Career Spanning Compilation" I believe you need to include songs from these concerts. Not only are these tracks "Live Versions" but, in many cases, they are better than the studio counterparts on the original albums.Now I'm proceeding with Disc 4 (Deluxe Edition, 20 tracks). Here I'm focusing on tracks from Paul's "Kisses on the Bottom" Album/CD from 2010. I'm also adding Paul Songs from other Post Beatles' Albums that would fit well with the "Kisses" Sessions.

If Paul releases a Brand "New" Album in late 2023 or even by 2024, chances would be very good that a 2025 McCartney Compilation would be his last attempt to release a "Career Spanning Compilation" that would be a true compendium for his entire Post Beatles' Discography. I believe that he not only should do it but it would be a necessityThat is why I'm doing these "potential" Track Lists for a 2025 Compilation. As I have said, it needs to be very comprehensive covering all his "Eras" from 1970 to today. For the true fans of Paul McCartney's Solo Career, it needs to be much better than 2016's "Pure McCartney" and frankly all of his previous Compilations.
I really like my Disc 4 directly above that focuses on Paul's "Kisses on the Bottom" Sessions and other songs in his Post Beatles Career that have a similar feel to the 20's,30's, and 40's Period. More about my loose review of Paul's "Kisses" Album/ CD a little later.

In my opinion, Paul McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom" Album/CD in 2012 is a very "Underrated"
Offering in his Post Beatles Career. Upon its Release, it received "Mixed Reviews" Initially. Personally I could understand why some Music Writers and Fans either didn't like the Song Selections/Style on "Kisses" or they didn't care for Paul's Vocals. I felt a little like that upon my first couple of listens.Gradually and fortunately, I changed my mind. First of all I loved Paul's 2 originals on the Album - "My Valentine and Only Our Hearts". On top of the Fact that they were both Great Songs, it was brilliant that Paul enlisted 2 of his Musician-Friends to join him during the Recording Sessions. Eric Clapton's Guitar Solo on My Valentine was fantastic. Likewise, Stevie Wonder's Harmonica Solo on Only Our Hearts was Super. And as I listened (On Repeat) to many of the "Covers" among the Tracks, I started really liking most of them. One of Paul's Producers on "Kisses" Diana Krall did a Great job. For that matter, all the Players and overall Sound on the Album was Great in my opinion.
It didn't hurt that I remembered the very 1st Track "I'm Going to Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" from when I was a kid going to my Mother's Sunday Gatherings in Philadelphia. I clearly remember My Mom and Aunts singing this great old tune.
The tracks that I listed above (Disc 4) were among my favorites..."Accentuate the Positive, More I Cannot Wish For, Irving Berlin's "Alway", Get Yourself Another Fool (Eric Clapton Plays Lead Guitar on this Track Too), Bye Bye Blackbird, It's Only A Paper Moon" etc. etc. Paul's choices for an Album of Traditional Songs from the 20's, 30's and 40's were great in my opinion. One of the old songs, in particular, really got to me emotionally. For anyone who has a Daughter would totally understand. "More I Cannot Wish For" was just a wonderful choice. I'm sure "Yankeefan" a regular on this Board would feel the same.
For the reasons above, I would include some of the great songs on "Kisses" on any type of future McCartney Compilation. Just like the great "Covers" on Run Devil Run, they need to be included as part of Paul's amazing Post Beatles' Career. I'm -
Some additional notes for Disc 4, Deluxe Edition:
Track #9 Above - The Correct Title is:
More I Cannot Wish You
For many of the Songs on "Kisses on the Bottom" there are "Live Versions"..."Live at the Capitol Studios". I would leave it up to Paul to pick the "Best" Version for a future McCartney Compilation.
I've been using a "Working Title" of:
