I prefer the long wait to get a "classical" McCartney album. and a classical "McCartney" album means ... full of melodies that lats in our memory forever. in addition to a couple of hits . his last 2 albums MAF and New were not bad but are easily forgettable. that's why they did not last in charts (sold well) except from very loyal fans. It does not matter who produce the album. what matters is how much "Paul McCartney" you can find in the album.

Jackie Lomax song produced by Paul
I thought Paul only played with Ringo and George on "Sour Milk Sea" , but actually there a single with its A side produced by Harrison : "How The Web Was Woven" The B side produced by Paul "Thumbin' A Ride" which is really fantastic.. after doing my search I found it on you tube . in reissue of the album "Is This What You Want?" I think Paul played drums, bass, electric guitar, backing vocals as suggested in the album list, which I believe it was in that track.
Enjoy folks -
RE: Driving Rain revisited
I enjoyed DV when it came out. and didn't understand why it was not a hit. It the most rocking album Paul did. his voice was amazing in the rock tracks. the band was really great . the guitar work, the bass and the drums, and also full of melodies. take a simple song like "Tiny Bubble" .. the melody stays in your head forever. I expected this album will be looked at differently after 10-20 years in one of the oldest thread about the album (in the early years of the forum). Glad some fans here started to enjoy it more now.

No More Lonely Nights, Beautiful Night, and Calico Skies were the last songs that are up to par for me with anything he wrote as a Beatle (such as Yesterday, Here, There & Everywhere, I Will, etc.)
Completely agree. NMLN is my favorite solo song, along with Maybe I'm Amazed, because it does hold up to his best work. It's a shame he hasn't embraced the song in his shows. Although I was tickled to hear it in the pre-show music for the Detroit show last October.
it has very high vocal notes plus great solo by Dave Gilmour
I was also thinking that was the reason he has never performed the song live - out of his vocal range. Or, it brings up bad memories about the film!
I think the latter explains it. He almost never does material from albums that flopped, including his whole mid-80s run.
the album was No.1 , the song was No.2 in the charts! the song was not even included in the flopped film! Paul current vocal range won't help him sing those strong high notes unfortunately

RE: Was No More Lonely Nights Paul's last classic?

I define classic as being both very popular & high quality. My Brave Face could be considered but it was such a minor hit even when it came out. I was listening to NMLN today on the radio, and the song gets better with time. I'm surprised it hasnt been covered yet by a major artist.
I agree.. it was the last classic in the definition of (very popular & high quality) he made a lot high quality ballad songs like "That Day is Done, Calico sky, Beautiful nights" but was not that famous or popular, only to Paul fans!

Is Manchester United coming back?
It is really difficult imo to be in the top 4 again.. and to enter Champion league for the next year. but I guess this is the time.... the new players from inside Manchester United are bringing spirit again into the team. Beating Arsenal is a good sign.
