Above is a map of Rhodos. The town is in the northeast part of the island. A red arrow points to where (Faliraki) the festival will be on the 19th rolling into the early hours of the 20th. What is the festival like? Read quote below from Rhodos website:
The following is a brief summary of the local festivals which are celebrated all over Greece. In addition that most of the names are of religious origin, every village has at least one Church festival per year, celebrating the name day of its particular saint, with lots of wine, ouzo and delicious food. (They left out the dancing and the bizouki music)
thank you so much for that I'm stopping in Ialysos which is on the other side of the island but can easily get buses into the old town and then to faliraki. thank you once again - can't wait to go now

I live in Leith which is not really Edinburgh. Have you been to Edinburgh?
yeah I've been to Edinburgh (and loved it) because my best mate lives there (as done for the last 10 years). she used to live in the city centre (near the 'hearts' ground) but now she lives in Galashields and travels to her work. I'm going again in October because she is getting married so watch out scotland that weekend lol

A lot of festivals are in conjunction with the Feast day of the Saint that a church is named after. Thus, if there is a church named after the Prophet Elijah on the island there will be a festival on July 20th. Is that one of your travel days? ( I only knew that because one of the churches in my mom's village is named him and when in Greece we try to hit that "panayeire.")
I will be in Rhodes on the 20th (I get there on the 19th and leave on the 26th ) What are church festivals like ??? How would I find out where the nearest church is ???
