Target already charged me for the album even though it’s not out until Sept. 7th!! 😡

I started to pre-order it, but $24 (with shipping) just seems ridiculous. I think I'll just try to get it in the store, if I don't change my mind and wait for the inevitable super deluxe that may have those same tracks, haha.

      #1 is a good smattering!

Can anyone give my a little background on the Album title...Egypt Station.  If there are previous explanations in other threads, I do apologize.

It seems like a strange title but then again, it is intriguing.   The only thing that I read from Paul himself is that he liked the title and that each track represents another station.  Is "Egypt Station" a relatively well known place in Egypt or England for that matter.

      Thanks

Read upthread a little.  Egypt Station was the title of a painting he did. I posted a pic of it.

Plus, there's an Egypt Station in Mississippi, site of a CIvil War battle, although Paul hasn't mentioned that, so I don't know if it's a coincidence. I think that icon he's using is cool, and I think it's meant to look both like a pyramid emitting radio waves AND a train going down tracks into a tunnel.

I think he likes the idea of trains as a theme—lots of rock and roll history involving songs about trains—and it seems he has at least a couple of other songs on the album that touch on current events, so Egypt being in the Middle East may be a reference to that, not to mention the American South (racial tensions, etc.), if the Civil War battle reference is intentional. Guess we'll find out in September!

7th of September would make sense, assuming that the Lennon "Imagine" project comes out in October, and the White Album 50th comes out in November. I imagine the Archive releases would be next year sometime.

I was under the impression we were receiving "Wild Life" and "Red Rose Speedway" this fall. Is that no longer on the table? God knows he pays zero attention to the archive collection on tour, so even if he is on the road with a new record to tout, I doubt these would get attention either way. Lennon's reissue for the millionth time is also inconsequential.

Perhaps the Lennon release is inconsequential, but I just can't see Capitol promoting Archive releases mere weeks after a brand-new Paul album, and within weeks of the White Album reissue.

Is this actually a physical vinyl record release tomorrow as a double-A-side single? The blurb on the website is incredibly vague and yes, for someone like Paul McCartney in the year 2018, a three month gap between single and album is a bit silly, even if tour dates are imminently to follow. I figured with Carpool Karaoke airing on Thursday night that perhaps the single would drop Friday morning and maybe a rush "surprise" release of the album the following Tuesday, but that's obviously not the case.

Anyway- are we getting a hard copy of this sucker tomorrow or not?!

I can't see how it could possibly be available physically, or else SOMEONE who works in a record store would have piped up by now and mentioned that they got a shipment of it, ready to go for the morning. Unless the singles all get magically delivered by drones on Wednesday! 🙂

From Ultimate Classic Rock: Could this be Paul McCartney's new album cover? They say the new song played is "Come Home To Me". I guess we'll find out soon.

Randy, do you know how to make your links clickable? (Or can someone please do it for him? My iPad is not cooperating copying and pasting)

There is also a YouTube video he posted that needs to be made clickable. Thanks.

I gave him directions in another thread. Here is the link he posted.

Someone found an image from the Philharmonic gig where you can see the setlist at Paul's feet. He blew it up and enhanced it so you can read the titles. The new song title is clearly "Come On To Me"!

I don't he will release the full album before this summer. I even doubt Egypt Station will be an album name or a single title....

For what it's wortth: I think he will release a single first, maybe this week. THan built up a campaign towards the album and release that late August or early September.

      What do you think?

I think that absolutely is the album title, and that it will be out in the next week or two, before the 4th of July holiday.

On another forum, a guy with supposed "insider info" said that the new album will be released physically and digitally at the same time, but he was ambiguous about when that would be. Seemed to be saying that a single will come first. The idea of a digital-only release was shelved because they saw how it didn't work out well for U2: physical sales were light when the CD/LP came out.
