Are any of you Americans still alive? I saw that the death toll was 2,000. The next time I checked, it was at 14,000. I don't mean to cast aspersions, but I think you're doing it wrong.

I can't see what he'll do next year. I don't have 2020 vision.

RE: EGYPT STATION
Is it weird that I have not heard Egypt Station yet? I generally buy Paul albums as soon as they come out, but I was in no hurry with this one. Now, I have it. It's sitting next to my computer, ready to get uploaded. But I have not touched it.
It's not that I prefer nostalgia music and hate anything new by older artists. I think the last/most recent albums by Paul Simon, James Taylor, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Don Henely were among their best. I don't expect Egypt Station to be among Paul's best. I just really don't want it to be bad, or worse, mediocre.
I know Paul's voice isn't what it used to be, but that's true for everyone mentioned above. Except Stevie Wonder & Peter Gabriel. Their last albums came out a hundred years ago. I'm more worried about the songs being forgettable. If you say Memory Almost Full, I have to think about which songs are on that album, but go to Flaming Pie or anything earlier and I know all the songs right away. Part of that is nostalgia, but I have no nostalgia for Paul Simon's Stranger To Stranger. It's just a great album.
I will listen to Egypt Station sooner or later, but right now it's Schrodinger's album.

So my older brother recovered somewhat--and then went on a cruise. The rest of us are crossing our fingers he doesn't come back horizontal. Sigh....
Our Manager at the Residence up and quit. And they fired the Assisted Living section's one. So now we don't have any.

I don't want to say you're lucky, but if you had to deal with American insurance, you would wish you were back in Canada. The biggest upside to all of my medical bullshit is that I live in China. Insurance and payments are the least of my concerns.

Appearance of going rogue, big time. Does putting your hand on a Bible and swearing to uphold the constitution, have no meaning? Or do some Christians no longer believe the Word, or the 10 commandments...
In my life, I have never seen so many Self avowed Christians, keep their mouths so tightly closed, in the face of such shocking, nefarious and shamefully disgraceful behavior. Hardly a peep.
In my experience, Christians are the least likely to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the United States*, being a Christian has less to do with peace, love and understanding and is more about finding an excuse to rationalize hatred of people who are not Christian, brown people, women, homosexuals, immigrants or anyone else who is not "one of us". The obvious irony is that Jesus was a brown, Jewish immigrant who condemned the rich and told people to love their enemies.
* This is not just in the United States, of course, but 90% of the Christians I've known were American.
"A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 13:34-35
According to Jesus, not a single politician who claims to be a Christian is a disciple.

WOW Hailey...didn't realize the crash and the stroke were different events. (((Halley))) Prayers going out to you!
Yes, they were two years apart. I don't know if that makes it better or worse. What really gets me is that I have some long overdue dental issues that are getting harder to ignore. It would have been so much easier to take out my wisdom teeth while my head was on fire. The good news is that the discomfort of a dental procedure can't possibly compare to having your skull cut open.

Thanks Oobu, if I don't pass, they have a study class that gets you in! Hope I don't need it!
Just try to remember that if you don't make it, although I'm sure you will, maybe it's for the best. Being a nurse is an extremely difficult job. They should make it as hard as possible to get in so only the people who should really be doing it are the people actually doing it. If it turns out you need something easier, go for being a doctor.

I was sorry to read about your stroke, Hailey's Comet, and I'm glad you're recovering well and getting better all the time. Wow, I remember when you told us about your car crash, and now this...you're due for some good things to happen !
The funny part is, I've had the nickname Hailey McComet since forever, for obvious reasons, but the only appearance of Halley's comet during my lifetime was the worst one ever.
Actually, a lot of good things have happened. Recovering from the accident was kind of a bitch, but I got back up to at least 90%, I went back to work, I have great friends to help me out emotionally, physically and with household chores. I could walk, talk, sing and dance. There are a million ways it could have been a lot worse. The whole stroke thing is just a minor setback. Maybe it's what I needed to kick my butt into getting all the way to 100%.

A typhoon just tore through Taiwan on the way to Korea. We got a little rain, but nothing serious. The rainy season just ended, so most people are still in rain mode.

RE: ......IN A HEARTBEAT
I always had hair below my shoulders. Until they shaved off every last strand. I looked like Darth Vader without the helmet for a while. Now I just have too short hair. Short hair is pretty common in China, so no one notices how wrong it feels to me.
Under Obamacare you have free prescriptions and free regular doctor visits? That sounds pretty good. Why are so many people bitching about it? Everything medical in China is dirt cheap, but nothing is free. Unless you can't pay for it. The stroke set me back $50. The craniotomy was a whopping $400, but that's only because I had a private room.

I hate to tell you, but yes, I still get headaches a lot and some months are worse. I sometimes have migraines, but didn’t have any in August! Had one so far this month. I take Sumatriptan (Imitrex is brand name) for the migraines which is a life saver. I was taking something else that wasn’t helping and a friend of mine was visiting and she let me try her Imitrex and I told my doctor it worked great and so he changed my prescription.
For just “regular” headaches I alternate between Kroger generic Migraine Formula (Acetaminophen/Caffeine/Aspirin) and Ibuprofen.
Hope your recovery goes well and you don’t have any more problems!
I also wanted to ask, how long did it take for your hair to grow back? I'm at the 2 year mark and it's still too short for my liking.
