Greetings again,everyone... The new dvd is great, although the numerous split screens are abit too much for my liking.Did anyone notice Abe wearing the Iowa State cyclone t-shirt on the plane? That was cool...

Last, and most imortantly, I want to say how NICE and FRIENDLY everyone was to us in Des Moines. We have never felt so welcome anywhere!!! You guys are the BEST!!! Aahhh,Scottycatt, thank you so much! It was really a pleasure to meet you and everyone else. One of your signs showed up on the Des Moines Register website.Next time I'm in the vicinity of Laurel canyon I'll look you up... We finally found the Quality Inn,and I knew the barmaid there was jealous because she couldn't go,and had to work instead,so I took her a copy of the Philly show that's circulating on the board, and her jaw dropped to the ground, since we'd never met.A splendid time guaranteed for all!!!

Looks more and more like the Spaghetti Works is the place to be! I'm a little worried about the parking situation since we're staying in West Des Moines and driving into downtown around 2:30 pm.. I guess I'll just go to the arena and work my way out and try to find a parking garage.
Parking should be at a premium, however,at 2 or 3 in the afternoon it should be easier, although many of the spots in the garages will be filled due to folks working down there..If parking is the biggest problem I have all day on Thursday,I'll be a happy camper!

Like I said a page before, I think my wife and I will be going to a few different places looking for the coldest beer. Spaghetti place will probably be one of the stops. I read somwhere in the paper that many restaraunts are filled up with reservations...One in paticular was Court Ave.Brewing Co.,said they filled up 3 weeks ago...As far as I know,Spaghetti Works DOES NOT take reservations,so we SHOULD be okay.I'll try to grab the biggest table I can. The paper also says that there is not very many parking spots to be had at Vets(right across from Wells Fargo) at all. There is a big parking ramp just to the south of the arena which I plan on unloading at.The Savery charges for their parking, and I don't know where they park them. The on street meters around the area will be busy due to folks working downtown,so find a garage close to where you'll be and plan on walking the rest...Again,the Spaghetti Works is one block south of the Savery... Hope this helps some...

Hey Scotty .. We'll be at the Spaghetti Works(one block south of your hotel) just after 3 on Thursday(2 women and myself),will save a place for everyone. We also are planning on leaving the works around 5 to catch Paul and the band arriving, and then soundcheck.Forget about driving up there, leave your rental at the Savery and walk with us,it's a very short distance,no matter what anyone claims... The weather looks like it will be decent, and we're going to have a FANTASTIC time !! This is Iowa, not LA or NY,we won't miss a thing, pay no attention to the people here with the negative vibes about being late,or too far to walk.Have you asked the Savery about their shuttle service to and from the show? That would be a plus, but not really necessary... Have a nice drive between Omaha and Des Moines,it should be right at about 3 hours for you.The trees are just past prime time, but still enjoyable.Welcome to the heartland of America, better known as "Macca Central" next week... I know of a meeting place after the show very close to Wells Fargo,we'll talk about that later.I do not know where he will be staying at,but the Savery possibly could be one of them,so be on the lookout!

Welcome, and if you plan on drinking across the street from us, fo-get-abouit! Come join the festivities at the Noodle House with us! Hopefully I'll be sitting outside on the sidewalk sucking down a couple of cold ones if the weather holds up...
-
RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
Someone staying at the Savory needs to check up on the shuttle van service they have.I'll bet they'd drive everyone from the noodle works to wells fargo, and it's free...could someone investigate this?
-
RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
The "Works" it is,then, mates! We'll be down there 3ish...hope the weather holds up,it's been great lately.Hopefully we won't have to carry maccascruffs up to the arena, but if we do,then so be it... I've been listening to the concert everyday now for the last week and can barely contain myself! Cheerio!

RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
Hi Seuss and every1, Meetup time for my 3sum could be around 3... I went down last week just to educate myself with the area again, and it is all very walkable.I think you're staying at the Savory? They have a nice grand piano in the bar I could tickle some Macca tunes on...I'd like to feed my face before the show too...we could meet anywhere, not much for crowds that early, except for Macca fans... Whatever we do will be cool by me... Only 10 days now.....Woohoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
??Priceline had nothing to do with the Savory's special room rate, why did you think that? Not eating or drinking after noon the day of the show, what's that about? And as I said, the walk from court ave to wells fargo is about 6 blocks. As far as $5 parking, that sounds like a deal.I think you have to park across the street at vets, though, but not positive. Perhaps the party is being called off?

RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
Ok kids,I have the lowdown on the downwntown... Wells Fargo is about 4 blocks north of the Savery. The two are connected by the skywalk.Perhaps the Savery would have a shuttle to and from the show also, you can check with them. There's a big parking ramp right across the street from the Savery,if you need a place to rest your Helen Wheels. We maybe should meet up down on Court Ave.before the show.Have a bite and sip at Spagehhti Works,or Court Ave.Brewing.Inexpensive food and it's two blocks to the south of the hotel. We'll skip limo entrance to meet up with everyone.Head count?

RE: Des Moines Thread - ARCHIVE
Yes,it is walking distance, and since we have a few of you staying there,I think we should meet there,as nothing is planned yet...
