    • RE: EGYPT STATION

What a great, exciting Egypt Station launch day!!!

I have to give Paul and his team credit for some very innovative marketing and being willing to push the envelope here (on both the album and promo).

Really like the album - especially Come On To Me, Back in Brazil, and Despite Repeated Warnings. Those were straight away personal favs from the first listen. Dominos has been a big grower for me and I’m already in love with it even though I only thought it was okay the first time around. Surprisingly, I Don’t Know and Fuh You have also grown on me tremendously - I wasn’t impressed with either when they each came out a singles and found them inferior to COTM, but, strangely, I love them nownthat I’ve heard them in context of the full album... anyone else have that experience??

I definitely feel like Paul achieved his objective in creativiting an atomospheric conceptual soundscape that “takes you somewhere” - to another plane or “station” of being, so to speak - in a way that I don’t think any of his other albums quite have (partly because it was intentional here and structured in that way)...

And the Grand Central Station concert was such an appropriate way to cap off the launch. Couldn’t have gone better in my judgment...

I feel confident ES will crack the top 10 in US album charts, maybe even top 5 (its currently #3 on iTunes)!

    • RE: EGYPT STATION

Just wanted to say that I LOVE “Come On To Me”!! Catchy, sexy, fun vibe and great vocals...

I also love the concept album-like theme of Egypt Station, and of course as a lifelong Egyptology buff I was thrilled that he made the bold creative choice to go with this... very exotic and vaguely mystical theme. Can’t wait how the album shapes up to be and how it holds up to its title!!

I’m also thrilled that Paul finally decided to use his own art as the cover for the album. He’s remarkably talented and criminally underrated as a visual artist and this puts his skills right on display for the world to see while jazzing it up with some postcard collage imagery

Lastly, I’m so pleased that his Carpool Karaoke segment is doing so well online!! Altogether I think it’s been seen somewhere around 100 million times when you add up YouTube and Facebook, which is certainly not bad at all. I’ve actually gone into cafes and heard multiple people buzzing about it (“...did you see the McCartney segment??”), which is always great to see. I also love that he achieved all this on his own merits, not just by piggy-backing off of young stars to reach the youth. It shows that he really is still very deeply loved by millions the world over...

So it’s a very strong start for the album promo season, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!!😁

(That having been said, I was underwhelmed with “I Don’t Know” and the new tour name LOL)

    • RE: Paul's new album and promotion

ICYMI: just today Paul has posted this mysterious image on all his social media platforms...

      https://m.facebook.com/PaulMcCartney/photos/a.481990853312.275107.182736663312/10156654754088313/?type=3&source=45

Any guesses as to what it is? (Both in terms of what it represents and what it is to be used for - single? Album? Book? Something else??)

      Enticing...

    • Neo-60s

      This is my latest earworm:

“Name on a matchbook” by the very Beatles-esque Springtime Carnivore.

Love the effortless revival of that district ‘60s sound...

Instantly puts me in a good mood

Just thought I’d share it with all you wonderful people...

Thoughts? What genre what you describe this as? Heard any others (modern) like it?

      beatlesfanrandy:

History repeats itself year after year, rumors say that Mccartney will give a concert at the Summer Festival in Lucca (Italy) in 2018, along with an unlikely meeting of Pink Floyd to give a unique concert on the walls of the city of Lucca. The first is more credible, since there are many possibilities of a European tour for Paul in spring ... summer in Europe / United Kingdom ... but the meeting is of Pink Floyd ... it is very doubtful

Pink Floyd will never reform according to David Gilmour after The Endless River came out in 2014. He and Roger Waters just don't work well together. Though we may see some more Deluxe editions of their classic albums.

While it is true they don't work well together, they have performed together several times in recent years and each continues to record and tour their solo material. While it's safe to rule out recording any new material together- and certainly under the Pink Floyd name - I wouldn't rule out a concert with the three if the situation was enticing and convenient enough for them. And if that's the case, Paul becomes much more plausible (and he wasn't particularly implausible to begin with lol)

      Nancy R:

Tony Bennett, age 91, just sang on Jimmy Kimmel's show last month! Barring any major health problems, Paul will still be performing for many years!

That my feeling exactly. He's going very strong for his age and this seems to be a trend for his generation. Paul, Dylan, The Beach Boys, and The Stones will likely keep kicking for at least another decade or so - the 60s have been the longest decade ever
