I think it really sucks the way they announce the dates. I don't care about the rumors...the artist should announce & let us decide & make our plans for the summer...or fall...whatever.
I agree but it's a method of increasing ticket sales.
but he doesn't need this marketing strategy. he'll sell out regardless.
I disagree. He doesn't always sellout. Does he draw a big crowd? Yes. DOes he always sellout? No. The Stones brilliantly marketed their upcoming US tour which will be announced in FULL tomorrow by setting up billboards in select cities announcing as Wednesday(tomorrow) is the day they have an announcement. With presales and onsales to start this weekend, many Stones/Macca fans will only be able to choose one act over the other, because of the $$$ involved. This is where MAcca is making a huge mistake in trickling in his tour dates. If he does a NYC gig at the garden it will sellout. I dont think he will sellout one single show if its in a stadium. Arenas, perhaps. I dont think Fenway willl sellout. Nor do I believe the hype of extar tix being released today blah blah. Thats just a ploy to hype the gig and move the garbage seats quicker. Miller PArk or Indy or New Mexico stadium.... no chance of selling out! In fact I would wait until the day of the show for those small market shows, becuase tix can be had below face value day of show. He's gonna have a heck of a time selling out large venues in most markets(assuming hes playing stadiums) when his tix will go onsale days and weeks after other high priced acts ie Stones go onsale. In fact, once the Stones release their dates tomorrow at 9am eastern, I will pick and choose the dates I want to see them, and if it coincides with a Macca date I could have gone to, then oh well. You snooze ya lose!! Sorry Paul.

From what I read, the Stones are on board for 18 shows, doing multiple shows in one city. The Stones put on a very exciting show. They may not be your cup of tea, but they are one of the most dynamic live acts around.
They also mix up their setlist quite a bit.
That's true...but so many of the songs sounds the same...especially live...
The tens of thousands of fans who will go to their concerts don't care what you think. They sound the same to you because you are not a fan. As I once stated here, I am not a big Eric Clapton fan. Just not for me. But I respect that thousands enjoy his music and his concerts. I saw him once. That was enough for me! I have seen the Stones three times, and if they play New Mexico (they won't) I would go. And I CERTAINLY will go see McCartney if he plays New Mexico!!!
be nice... truthfully, the stones sound like crap last few tours maybe more than that.. I think ppl see them for the one thought -- "it's the Stones" legends..the casual fan.. MicK's vocals are so drowned out be production- back up singers & what not's .. they weren't great at 12-12-12 either~ they were brilliant back in the day...last time I had seen them 10 years plus...they were ok back than Now, Paul, him & the band don't need all that ..back up singers, over production & what nots you can hear Paul's voice although not flawless hiccups now & than.. he's still got it... some just truly do not have an ear for music~
Where are Micks vocals drowned out!?!? He does have two backing singers for songs that require backing vocals. MAny Stones tunes used outside vocalists to create a certain sound they were looking for. WHen I saw PAul last year in STL, he sounded great, but had help with vocals from Rusty,Abe and Brian. No different that what the Stones do.

Agreed. He does throw a surprise in every once in a while. Otherwise prepare to hear the same show, and even the same dialogue night after night.

RE: Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours
4 Stones 1 Paul. That should explain the difference in guarantees. They will be competeing with one another. If u like both acts but can only afford one, then a decision MUST be made!
