@b-j-conlee I just listened to this recently. I have the Rykodisc release on CD as well as the original vinyl. "What Do We Really Know" and "Leave It" were written by Paul (actually copyrighted to Paul & Linda as were all of his compositions then). The former is kind of a goofy song that would have fit in on McCartney II. "Leave It" has Denny Seiwell on drums so I'm guessing it's a Ram outtake. Sounds like that period. Seven other songs were co-written by Paul. The credits only show Paul as producer but his backing vocals are clearly heard on some tracks and I wouldn't be surprised if he played some instruments too. Curiously no one is credited with playing bass on the album. This was probably because Paul was under contract to EMI and the album was on Warner Bros. My favorite song on the album is "Givin' Grease a Ride".
There was another Paul & Linda song called "Ten Years After on Strawberry Jam" that was the B-side of "Liverpool Lou" by Scaffold in 1974.
I think the next release will be the new music recorded with Andrew Watt last year. If it's released in CD format it will probably be in limited quantities with minimal packaging. The rest of the back catalog (London, Back, Broad St., Press and maybe Cold Cuts) might only come out in vinyl and download/streaming formats. I'm afraid the CD era is quickly coming to an end. And that's a shame, I've only been waiting 40 years for Cold Cuts to come out and to not have the whole Archive Collection in CD format will suck.
@b-j-conlee The videomuzic article quotes the interview on this site (29 Dec) where Paul talked about new music recorded with Andrew Watt last year, not unreleased material from years past. With this new album and now another book it looks like the Archive Collection is done for good.
The release of the the 7" singles box tells me the Archive Collection is officially dead.
It doesn't look like anything will be released this year, if ever.
"Send Me the Heart" is a McCartney/Laine song that been on various Denny Laine compilations. The other songs were released on two singles released late 1974. For some reason "Send Me the Heart" wasn't included on the archive collection release of Venus and Mars. Wonder why.
There was an article in The Tennessean in 1974 where Paul talked about putting the Nashville tracks on an album called Cold Cuts along with unused tracks from Ram and Red Rose Speedway. Still waiting.
