-
Hey...here's one that I always liked ....here's LEON'S version, I also liked Joe Cocker's, which I'll post as well! Enjoy!
Here's Joe's renditon ....I love both!!LEON RUSSELL - 'Delta Lady'
-
those are dynamite songs
they sound really good. here are more from Leon

I would like to have been at this party:
-
Susy...2 superb songs you chose above..."LadyBlue and "Rainbow In Your Eyes"....just great! They were lying dormant in my memory banks and were sufficiently rejuvinated
thanks! I've got a couple more J. Cocker's to post and then I'll leave "Big Joe" alone for awhile...gawd that man has soul...he really moves me... always did! These last two are kinda laid back in contrast to the others, but, geez I think they're great as well!!
-
Okay..this is my last LEON RUSSEL song post as well...I had no idea he wrote this great song until I read your post Susy, and heard him singing it there....I had this version saved in my favorites for a while ...enjoy! MICHAEL BUBLE' and CHRIS BOTTI - 'Song for you"
-
Super, Claudia. Michael Buble isn't one of my faves, but he does that song well. Leon Russell also wrote "Superstar," I think (?). He sounds so wild and ragged when he trills. Joe Cocker's voice is, I think, strangely beautiful

One of my Sting faves, and Paul said he wished he had recoreded it as well....

Describing Joe's voice as "strangley beautiful" is just perfect, Susy....it's true!
Oh and "Superstar"...yeah, that's the one that Karen Carpenter sang, isn't it? "Long ago and oh so far way"...etc. etc....me thinks??

You know, just watching the guitarist finger pick that song part just takes up this song another notch for me...sooo pretty!

)...I'm thinking of looking for a similar style for meself I liked them so much
Anyway, he loves to wow his audience with some of his older stuff and he didn't disappoint...he played all my faves, starting with a great renditon of LEVON and I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT THE BLUES....he was into it...let me tell you, had my feet moving whilst I was even laying in bed watching
then he did a fantastic, extended version of TINY DANCER...that's when he knocked my socks off!!
Then he got emotional (as did I) when he introduced his next tune which would be YOUR SONG...made me cry actually...lot of sentimental value for me as well, and he took the show out as I remember with TAKE ME TO THE PILOT....just great!! What a great performance ..I enjoyed it immensely, as apparently the audience did as well. One sweet thing he did that I noticed during the concert was to mouth to one of his band members whilst playing ..."I love you" , and he did it to someone in the audience as well...I thought that was so sweet. Anyway, sorry for rambling on here...just got carried away I guess. I'll be posting some of his tunes today....just have to have another listen ..they're so infectious.
PS..Susy, they even showed that clip you posted above.

ELTON JOHN - Take Me To The Pilot
-
WOW old Elton still has what it takes
And old Leon too, I bet
Been tinkling the ivories for ages. I hope I get to see and hear music vids better soon, they been messin' up major for me past few days
Heck, those are about the main reason I get on the puter (sobs) but thanks for these and for your review, Claudia
-
Oh yeah, Susy....Elton is still quite a showman....I'm always revitalized listening to him...he loves the reaction he gets when he starts up those old tunes, and it shows in his face when he still is able to hit those sweet notes....I just love him! Leon, however, was moving a little slower (walks with a cane), but at the keyboards, he presented quited differently. He sang very well and, of course they're both awesome piano players. Anyway, here's another song he blew me away with last night..Enjoy!

OOOOOOOOH..."Tiny Dancer," one of Elton's finest, always loved it so...another one I always loved is "Come Down In Time" (Judy Collins does a beautiful version too)...I got off on seeing Elton in front of the Walt Disney and Micky Mouse statues at Disneyland, laying his handprints in cement--no doubt in homage to Elton's fine soundtrack work for 'Lion King' and other Disney family and kiddies fare. Not a snob regarding that aspect of Elton's career, so I dig seeing that, Claudia
in the photo collage slide show with "Tiny Dancer"
Leon Russell doesn't look like himself...he must not have suffered a bad stroke or something though, or he'd be unable to belt it out and pound the keys...glad about that. I wonder if his son Teddy Jack is in the music biz too. Like both his ma and pa...that song about perfume or something (from "The Wedding Album") that you mentioned kept playing in my head too, recently...."Baby I'm on Fire and it feels so good, to get that strong desire like a woman should...when I listen to your heart beat, my love it sounds so sweet...please hold my hand, and we'll climb the highest mountain, and sail the seven seas," etc. Wow. Romantic ditty, isn't it
-
Glad you enjoyed "Tiny Dancer" and the slide show, Susy
and, yes, very romantic lyrics there...I enjoyed that.
Here's a cool video with Hubble Space images...loved the music as well...captivating to say the least! Enjoy!

Elton's "TINY DANCER' brought this video to mind. Being a former Ballet Dancer, I was so impressed with the incredible fluidity, flexibility, and sheer athleticism of this amazing ballerina! Even if you don't care for the Ballet, I think you'll enjoy this performance.... BEAUTIFUL CHINESE SWAN LAKE - http://www.nzwide.com/swanlake.htm
