when Bush was in office. He gave tax break for gas guzzlers. This was a right off the top deduction. So if you bought a gas guzzler for 100,000 you could write off the cost from your earnings. You tell me this wasn't a Bush family selling oil and taking care of oil people, tax break. I agree the only change has been chump change. Obama is a nice person but he needs to take charge and all these guys need to write a bill changing the way campaigns are funded. All these guy do is seriously run for office through out their term. They do nothing that will risk their seats. You don't have smart people running, you have actors running. People with some image that the powerful money people think they can get elected.. McCartney could be elected. Market correct themselves. If a bank makes risky loans they should not be bailed out. Let the well run company take advantage of the ability to buy up these banks for 10 cents on the dollar. We got to quit interfering with normal capitalistic system. This is true capitalism. Not all these monopoly that are being given unfair advantages.. We bailed out crooked banks with not one person going jail for corruption. So where is the deterrent to not have it happen over and over. I don't think the US is fixable because corruption is so out of control and the government is part of the courruption. There no stimulus money going to fix this problem until there is a more just, honest system. With oil prices at 130 barrel. Phony shortage, from lying, money hungry, corp.,buying are politician, there won't be change. Throw any money at stimulus program and you'll just see a the greedy getting it all. Seriously, I see hungry people!! This is going to get a whole lot worst. There is no more middle to squeeze and the rich have it all. And the goverement is just printing worthless paper and running for reelection. I've always lived with the philosophy of pay off any debt and have saving. It getting to be impossible to save. You can only cut back so much and than you have ask yourself. Is America really the best place to live. Canada has free medical and I think education. They also have jobs. What American is teaching us is get on a tread mill until you drop dead..that become the American way of life..

Much of this book has already been debunked by the very women who were attributed in it.

I'll take your word, for now - since that was only a side issue within the book. However, from the reviews that I have read - including the above - I get the feeling the author (Suskind) is being appologetic on the behalf of the President - what's gone wrong is the fault of Rahm Emanuel, Larry Summers, & Timothy Geithner. Personally, I don't buy that sort of b.s. - a finger pointing blame game instead of "the buck stops here". None of those others were elected (they were appointed).

Fair enough.

Considering the GOP Presidential Hopefuls line up so far, I'm starting to think maybe Obama DOES have a chance at re-election :
-
The only hope of anything ever getting done again is to have a Democratic President AND a Democratic Congress with a super-majority. The GOP stands for doin' nothin' -- and protecting the filthy rich. How these people sleep at night is beyond me. -Matthew 19:24

and who extended the last tax break for the rich? And when He had the majority his first two years he did what with it?

But what he didn't have was a fillerbuster-proof Democratic majority. So he HAD to play ball with the GOP. They take from the needy. And give to the greedy.

Of course, I have no issues with interracial couplings -- my significant-other is white. But I'm sure the Tea Party folks are just loving this. Not.

The wealthy DO have to pay SOME taxes, right? Getting a bit confused here. But they should be paying much more than they presently pay. Don't they already pay a lot, though, they're rich
