I need to listen to both versions to see/hear what you're talking about...
This first one is from the WOA/Rockshow tour - the little drum fill that comes in at roughly 1.51...just before Paul starts to sing that verse
This second clip is of someone doing a drum cover on top of the original 1973 studio recording, where he adds the same fill at roughly 1.54, once again, just before Paul begins to sing that verse This last clip is from Good Evening NYC, which depicts the typical manner Abe plays that part...which he pretty much sticks to the hi hats (if that's what they're call...LOL) -

Luckily, I don't particularly miss it.

Definitely not a deal breaker...I just thought it was a nice added touch

Besides being the featured drummer on the cover of the Jan issue... A 3 part video interview with Modern Drummer! Very cool. https://www.moderndrummer.com/site/2013/12/video-part-1-paul-mccartney-drummer-abe-laboriel-jr-interview/#.UqjJX_RDuSp

Love his California-boy way of speaking.

Did you hear that he actually turned Paul down because he was working for Sting? AND Paul waited for him. (I would have found a sub for Sting)
-
That speaks volumes!

Abe has just replied to a message of mine on twitter. What a nice guy.

Happy b-day, Abe!!!

I have been to numerous Paul concerts. And obviously he is the star of the show and the reason I go. But I LOVE his backing band, particularly Abe. There was just something snd awesome that his whole band and and a lot of rock bands are full of skinny white dudes, then there is Abe, this giant Samoan guy banging on the drums. Not only is he extremely talented, I am a percussionist in band and can tell someone with serious skill, he puts so much emotion, if you ever pay attention to him drumming, he is smiling, dancing around, truly expressive. He is truly great. Anyone agree?

As Paul would say, those moments "prove that we're live." -Rubber Soul13

If for no other reason Paul should bring back Dance Tonight so we can see Abe dancing again!
