The Song Everyone Loves........But You .
-
My buddy went with me to the Nashville show, and he's not aware of a lot of Macca's solo stuff. He loved the entire show, and the songs he didn't know only made him listen more. I remember watching Pearl Jam on Saturday Night Live back in 2006. They did two brand new songs, and I listened with a curious ear and loved both of them. So, the good news is that just because some folks might not be shaking their bums doesn't necessarily mean they are not appreciating what they're hearing. Also: My buddy bought Electric Arguments shortly after the show.

[quote="SusyLuvsPaul"]Well...to be fair, though, don't people in rows on the ground floor and even elsewhere feel they must remain seated, else they'll block the view of the people right behind them? Wouldn't that inhibit their getting up and dancing a lot? quote] OF COURSE NOT!!!! Everyone on the floor usually stands! You don't pay that kind of money to sit!

Amen to that!

Well...what if the people standing in front of you are much taller, and block your view of the stage...course those wonderful enormous screens are up there I was so addled, running around in Charlotte looking for a good pair of binoculars, as if the huge screens wouldn't be present...the binoculars I ended up getting proved rather ineffective. Thank God for the big screens. What did concert audiences do before those were always used, the peeps way high up or way far back...with the rockers just tiny dots on stage... The desire to see Paul close up on stage performing haunts me. Next time, if I'm so lucky there's one when I can go again, I'll move heaven and earth to get closer. I'll really shell out the big bucks, if possible

No way will I sit down unless I so choose. This summer, I saw lots of bathroom breaks during Highway. I don't drink anything for a few hours before the show or during the show as I'm not about to leave.

I see that a lot - but the most vivid example I recall was from the 2002 tour (April in Boston)...I was in the next (elevated) seating section behind the floor seats at the Fleet center looking straight on to the front of the stage. So in my field of vision, I could see Paul as well as the floor section very well at the same moment. As soon as the band kicked into Lonely Road, there was a mass exodus of people from the floor section to either the bathrooms or concession area - it was actually kind of sad and I some how could tell Paul took notice

paul should do a 'billy connolly' and shout..."WHERE ARE YOU GOING"???.. to be fair these people dont give a monkeys about most of his new material.they are there to see a beatle full stop.they might buy a live album as a bit of a' souvenir' but wouldnt know the song 'souvenir' if it jumped up and bit them on the bum!

Well said Mark, I wonder if he annouced a tour in big stadiums & then added " But I'm only performing songs from the last 30 years" what attendances would be like ? I'm sure it would still be quite full, as there are people who would still go just to say they'd seen a Beatle. Me I'd be there in a shot !

I still say that in cities where he plays a 2 nighter, he should advertise one night as Beatles night & one night as (last 30 years)Wings & solo night. I bet a lot of us would still go to both nights!

For the record, during Paul's SF show this summer, I had to take a bathroom break. I did it during "Back in the USSR," which I've seen Paul play live about 12,000 times, give or take a few.

Hello everyone! It might not be the most appropriate thread to make my very first post! Anyway, I think it is great to be able to say you don't like ALL of Macca's music. It shows you really give attention to what you listen to and don't like "just because it's Paul". I don't like much Jet, C Moon, Band on the run, No more lonely nights, Magic.... They are just boring songs to me. Boring or stressful. I'm not going to say the whole list though. Pleased to meet you all btw!

Dude - you don't have to justify having to go relieve yourself. This thing about 'I never got up to use the restroom during a macca show' is pretty amusing actually. And the funny thing is that I truly have never gotten up to use the restroom during one of his concerts...but only because I never had to go. I'd have no problem going if the urge came up. But does anyone actually think Paul would be proud if you told him I held in my pee pee until you left the stage?

I don't love "All You Need is Love" as much as some people. It does sound a bit sophisticated somehow while boasting a "Flower Power message"--John's voice sounds a bit jaded and knowing, casual, nonchalant, tinged with his usual acerbic quality, that horn after the words "all you need is love" always sounded kind of weird to me, sort of enervated and draggy...but perhaps that horn thing is interesting given that it's unexpected (the first time you hear the song)...on second thought, I can find right many things in "All You Need is Love," to love Maybe Paul sings this better than John did (?) because Paul's tone is joyous, exuberant, enthusiastic, ebullient while singing this sort of upbeat-themed song! I still haven't heard Paul sing this, is there a vid from his recent concerts, of this?

I don't really like Eleanor Rigby.

Ready for this? Brace yourselves... "And I Love Her" Never have liked it, and don't see myself gaining a love for it after 36 years.

If "limbering up" means getting pissed on beer, then yes, he is pretty limbered up right now.
