Oh, and very cool that the telegram is starting to get some attention!
Yes. And we'll have few minutes in France Culture radio show at 7 pm this evening. I even gave them a Hendrix Jazz tune ! Unfortunately we have no music with Jimi & Miles YM
Jimi and Miles together...I'd almost like to hear that more than I'd like to hear Paul and Jimi together...

Paul would have welcomed the opportunity to do this. He was in a very bad way in Oct. '69. John had just left the group, Apple was in tatters with Klein, etc. It would have helped Paul's mental state at the time.

I can't wait to know what Paul really thinks about it YM

yeah, it might be a good question for somebody interviewing him to ask. IT would be a different question for him.

On March 26th, I talked to Peter Brown : he did not remember at all this telegram which is quite natural after 43 years ! But at least, now he knows I put "some" light on this document... YM

Paul & Linda were big Jimi fans & I believe both knew him well. Didnt Linda photograph him at some point?

Just to confirm what the article says, I have never seen mention of this telegram anywhere in any Beatle book or article I've read (and I've read dozens like many here. I am very into the printed word about the Beatles and have been for nearly30 years now since The Love You Make first came out in 1984.

Thanks Kathryn O. I'll use your quote in other forums ! I always thought the story had not been told before but I'm not a Beatles expert so it's very well said here ! Thanks ! One moment I thought maybe Peter Brown wrote it in his book "_The Love You Make: An Insider's Story of The Beatle_s" but he didn't as he totally forget the telegram anecdote. YM

I reread The Love You Make often enough for the dirty parts. I'll let you know when I reread it again it it's mentioned. Peter gave one or two sentance mentions to various things that were only rumors that later turned out to be very true. (such as George's affair with Ringo's first wife). He does mention Paul being out of town and missing certain things several times.

Shame on me for not reading through this whole thread, so I don't know whats been covered, but this letter is ridiculously awesome!! Never heard of it before. I read on that first page where you thought for some reason that Paul never heard about this invite? why do you think that? an invite from Hendrix, I guarantee whoever, Peter Brown or whoever took that message, I guarantee they reached out to Paul promptly. I mean its one genius to another right there, Paul wouuld have grounds to fire anyone not relaying that message! even if it was Lennon himself! kidding. Jimi was awesome, and his demeanor always seemed so mellow, laid back and funny. Paul and Jimi could have really worked well together I bet. Plus Paul on bass for Jimi would have been amazing. Damn! wish Paul hadn't been on vaca for that one its such a shame Jimi left us so early. Really that?s one of the biggest artistic wastes of natural talent of all time. Though quite a lasting impression was made by age 27. revolutionary game changing guitarist.

Didnt Paul play with Steve Miller in the Summer/Fall of '69 & enjoy it? so, there is precedence that Paul might have played with Jimi if he knew about the telegram.
-
I don't know if this is true or not, but someone over on the Steve Hoffman forums said that on those tapes that were found of Ram demos a while back, there's a drunken Paul mentioning Jimi playing on some tracks, I think they said Smile Away and Get on the Right Thing. Probably not true mind, but it would've been nice, if tragic, as Jimi probably would've died soon after that tape was made.

Paul McCartney is a big big Hendrix fan. He NEVER said NOTHING about the telegram, NEVER. You all know him quite better than me but you also perfectly know he would have been so happy to tell everyone Jimi asked him to play with him + Miles & Tony.

I'm sure Peter Brown did not give the information to Paul...Remember Paul was harassed by press about his death rumor, he decided to go in his scotland farm that same period, difficult time anyway.
