Paul McCartney 2012 Rumours

Well, you did make your own pilgrimage to Memphis,\; I suppose I could return the gesture.
Of course! You're gonna have a blast in here.
Henderson7:
Why is he already going back to Mexico/Brazil, yet he hasn't been anywhere beyond California on the west coast in forever, Kinda weak if you ask me.
He already performed in the US last year. You can do the same thing we Argentineans will do: travel to Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil to see him. Also I'm pretty sure there'll be US dates in the summer.

They're just rumours. I think the people on here want to see him so much that they're getting excited by rumours taken from only one or two un-credible sources and creating a hype. They should probably only post dates/locations when they're officially confirmed (on this site), which they aren't. As someone said, a lot of Paul show rumours turn out to come to nothing. He's just as likely to want to do some shows somewhere else. Don't worry about it too much. You'll get to see him again. Everyone just calm down and wait. Also, as for UK dates, that fact he's doing RAH and the Jubilee (some people are adding the Olympics, too, but is that actually confirmed?) doesn't mean anything. Those three event's tickets weren't/aren't readily available to the public. RAH sold out in seconds, Jubilee are only doing a prize draw and aren't selling any, and Olympics tickets are hard to come by (besides, he won't do a full show for the Jubilee or Olympics) I wouldn't say that these dates are 'a UK tour.' A UK tour would be where he does a few dates in arenas and does a full show for his fans. He'll probably make us wait until the usual December for some proper shows..... who knows.
-
Two more dates have been mentioned: 15.04 - MONTEVIDEO (Uruguay) 17.04 - ASUNCIÓN (Paraguay) 19.04 - BOGOTÁ (Colombia) 21-22.04 - RECIFE (Brazil) (also rumoured as 20-21.04) 27.04 - FLORIANÓPOLIS (Brazil) 07.05 - GUADALAJARA (Mexico) 08-11.05 - MÉXICO D.F. (two concerts) 18.05 - BARCELONA (Spain) 25.05 - LISBOA (Portugal)

I'll gladly wait until December if he plays at my birthday again this year The show at the O2 in London last December was my best birthday night ever!!

To be honest with you, i am absolutely fed up of reading about south America dates. Yes he's entitled to perform wherever the greatest profit is, but do you mean to tell me that he couldn't earn a few bob by playing three or four nights at the echo in Liverpool? It's a bit ridiculous to me to repeatedly perform there and neglect other places. Looking at those dates, right the 15th April? That's less than a month away, do you honestly believe that one is going ahead?

I'm a bit fed up of hearing about South America now too!

While I would be the first to question all these dates 'confirmed by local media' which never emerge in the end, I'm pretty certain we will see an announcement about the Latin-American dates in the coming week. And dates 4/5 weeks ago are still possible, he's selling out every stadium over there in a flash anyway.
-
It isn't only the money (though perhaps that's the biggest factor?), he gets such a staggering reception in Latin America, they love him so much--it must be overwhelming, ecstasy of a sort for a performer and musician to feel such adulation from massive hordes of fans all at once--that must be the second most compelling reason

Agreed. Though, it's mostly just the one person spreading rumours. Don't pay too much attention to it. But I agree with you on the South America thing. Yes, he can play there and yes, he will again in the future and that's no problem, but you're right. There's a whole world full of Paul fans who are itching to see him. What about Australia and places he hasn't done in forever? The person spreading these unreliable rumours has had the chance to see Paul three times last year! That's more than most of us here have had within a year... or, in some cases, a lifetime!
-
Ok and when people as he gets an amazing reception over there and they are the most amazing fans and all, I don't buy that. His music is in all of us. You couldn't select one country or continent as being the ultimate fans. The reason he goes there is prob an excuse for a holiday!

Its all about Money.
-
So all of Latin America is a "holiday" destination? Wow, if it's that great, I should move there. I know it does boast some mighty "hot spots." Too fearful of the tarantulas (giant black spiders) though, among a few other off-putting things. Also everyone would be speaking Spanish (would be cool to learn, though). I realize the main impetus is money. Have noticed the high intensity of fan response there, too. Maybe that's a bit of a draw for him too.

he's combining business with pleasre.
-
Some places in the U.S. must seem sort of mundane after more exotic venues, but he could keep in mind the rich music history of the U.S., as well as having lots of people rich enough to attend his concerts, at least
-
I'd say that playing in South America it was partly an excuse to have a holiday. But the MAIN reason I believe he likes playing there is the MONEY! Which is kinda sad.
-
I had to reply to the "it's about the money" comments. Oh please, he's a billionaire. And he's the least materialistic billionaire in the world.

Not a slight over exaggeration! Just because he's not materialistic doesn't mean he isn't doing it for money. What about places like Australia, New Zealand, Japan etc. He doesn't tour there. Hell, he has only played Scotland twice in 22 years. He's played loads of times in South America recently, ofcourse he doesn't for money.
-
For sure, Australia should be at the top of the list. But then he's never been to Vancouver since 1964. And the Pacific Northwest hasn't been on any of the several recent US tours either. We all know where's been to the most though...

What does it mater if he's rich?! He didn't get rich by playing places where he wouldn't make a massive profit, did he! People forget that as well as being a musician he's a businessman as well! I'm sure he has a firm grasp of his finances and profit margins when selecting where to play!
-
Paul McCartney played in New Mexico in 1993. That PROVES he will play places where he won't make a lot of money!
